I wouldn't exactly say it looks identical. It may seem like it borrows the base idea, but it has some parts which make it stand out.

Don't go to the moon before you have a spaceship and a space suit. That is to say, don't assume stuff before you know the facts.

Look at it! The background is the same! The only new graphics are the little platform bits! Everything else looks the same!!!

Comparing the two right now, I wouldn't guess plagiarism, just unoriginality. Basing an entire zone's art on a single diamond shape is bound to lead to troubles.

Meh, I got bored, so I decided to do a test. How well does the underwater driver in Sonic 2 Recreation really work? (MD.emu was used to test the hack, as I believe it's the best Android emulator that's closest to real hardware) Listen to a snip-it of Mystery Cave Zone's music, then listen to it with underwater mode on, then to the test, with underwater mode off, but the music playing underwater! (sorry about the volume when literally underwater)

Well? Did ValleyBell do a good job?

Nice try, mate, but not accurate *runs*

I dont know. Something sounds a bit off like there something missing but thats probably just me. In any case, I would say that he did pretty good for the most part.

To me, the underwater driver doesn't sound like as if you're underwater :/

A video demo of the current WIP of Robotnik Returns. Some fun facts:

The big ring code is not based of off S3K, they were reprogramed from the original S1 object

The Spindash uses leftover S1 art for the unused warp animation, which happened to look just like the spindash :p

Edit: Youtube murdered the video quality :U

Edit2: The art for scrapped ruin zone was made by LooneyDude

Pretty short preview of CCZ1 from upcoming 3.0 version of S1:pE2. Unlike my other vids, don't showing the entire layout this time, but it looks like this first section (underwater puzzles with buttons and doors).

    C&C welcome.

    Sparkle Isle Zone?

The graphics remind me of the Sonic advance series, for some reason...

You could use the Rocket Shoes from the 8-bit games.

That super sonic stage is the BEST thing I've seen all month, it's about time someone brought something new in here rather than some obvious level design rip-offs...

This is probably some of the best zone art I've seen around here lately. The foreground and background colors blend quite nicely. The foreground is complex yet easy on the eyes, and the background, while not as sophisticated, is rather definitive, despite having a bit of a Spring Yard vibe to it. While there are a few spots where it could be improved (such as the loop, which could do with a sort of front-layer-to-back-layer approach like I attempted to do in my hack, and maybe a bit more definitive shading), it's overall very well done. Definitely going to be on the lookout for more of this kind of thing from you.

As for a name, well, the ground is green and shiny, and it looks like some kind of shoreline, so I'd say either Emerald Shores or Jade Shores. Whichever seems more fitting.
