Its a pretty humble story and premise for a first hack, it's great to start with something built around the original levels, first. The palettes are nice, and the level names are rather creative. I'm looking forward to it.

I'll polished the title font later.

And no I'm not too lazy to sprite Title Metal Sonic from scratch like in Metal Sonic Hyperdrive.

    @Lone Devil

One question, is this Sonic CD 2011 or is it the original version?

Did you use RSDKUnpacker? I used it once, and it was easy to edit art. But I don't know about the code. =P Anyaway, looking forward for this one!

As some of you may know, I've been working on a new layout for Lava Reef Zone in my hack recently. I originally had issues with the "Rock Object Layout" which is now fixed so again, thanks Varion. I thought I'd share some progress with you guys:

The top left image shows a section of layout in general, with a spindash elevator, fireworm badnik and lava pool. I've had to edit some of the existing chunks to be more user friendly so if anyone notices any slight differences in art or design, now you know why.

The top right shows a spiked platform and my inclusion of a breakable rock section from above, which wasn't used this way in the original Lava Reef Zone.

The bottom left shows an entrance to a small cave area from outside complete with a toxomister and a 10 ring monitor.

The bottom right shows the result of a mace ball that has partially trapped off the area in front of Sonic. If you beat the mace ball here, have invincibility or want to risk get hit, you can go through and collect a bonus for yourself.

If you have any questions about the images or the hack in general, feel free to ask and if I can answer them, I'll do so.

One of the rocks next to the lava in the first image looks a bit out of place, but other than that I like everything you're showing here.

That's actually the way it is in the original, funnily enough. I'll see if I can make it look better but I can't promise anything.

EDIT: oh, looks like I posted something this year

I don't even know why I'm ROM hacking again, (back from 2-3 years?) here's some random custom art I made 2 days ago:

    I guess boredom strucked me

Thanks I guess, I tried recreating Sonic on Roblox, but that failed badly.

Looking back at Sonic 3 and Sonic CD, I just loved the art, so I felt like I needed to ROM hack again.

It's not the most detailed art I've seen and looks like you've done a simple job... yet, it works...

It's a simplistic yet nice looking design, it kinda reminds me of Wacky Workbench Zone Good Future from Sonic CD.

Nice work, you've maintained a pleasing design without excess dithering, that's a pretty good note there.

It somehow reminds me of the MS-DOS version of Arkanoid. Which isn't a bad thing.

Wow, look at the ground, the place really is made of Legos! Lego trees, too.

    All in all, fantastic job!
