I think he was talking about how long it is.

    Am I right?

You must have spent days on it. In hours, not playing plus nonplaying time.

No, I was referring to how fucking dire it is, like all the advance games.

    Oh, right.

I could never stand the advance games. They had too many "extra moves" that pretty much ruined the game.

I mean, come on! How much must you suck to have to use a hammer to kill a badnik?

Fixed for it needed to be fixed.

I meant that it had pretty much every move you can get for all characters combined and then some, then repeat with different ones for each other character.

The Advance games irritated me for three reasons.

1: The way the GBA raped the characters sprites by transfroming them relative to the angle he/she was facing. (Slopes etc)

2: The pits that struck out of nowhere, causing me to hide the game in a dark cupboard.

3: The rewards were pathetic. Who the hell wants to play through the game AGAIN as AMY?

    Anyways, back on topic:

This hack has sure grown, last time I saw it was when you were still re-creating the leaf forest art from Sonic Advance 2.

The new features you've implemented are stunning. I can't wait to see that Level Select BG scroll diagonally across my emulator screen.

If you ever need some sprites finishing, I'd be glad to help.

I thought I might post about the hack in case you’ve forgotten about it, especially as all the old pictures have died. I don’t need to go into too much detail about it, so here are some pictures with descriptions.

Tails with the ability to fly, and even carry Sonic.

Now he feels like carrying Knuckles.

Pressing B whilst flying will make Tails stop and fall; great for getting back on the floor quickly.

    Knuckles’ turn to follow.

    Sonic doing his mid-air dash.

Mighty running on the Chaos Angel spinner.

    Mighty’s wall-grab.

New explosion art; and nuts and bolts are also going everywhere.

    Lightning level.

I am planning on releasing a demo soon. The demo will only have Sonic and Tails in and the first level. It’s just to show their abilities. The other characters (except Knuckles and whoever is with him) aren’t quite right yet.

    Question and comments welcome.

Wait, both Sonic and Knuckles on screen? I take it your using Sonic's shoe pallete(For Knuckles), right?

    Awesome.

Good job. I like SA3's art. They were decent SA3 was the best out of the SA series, it didn't have too many moves, only the R button and the B button...>.>

You know, if you change Sonic's shoe color to the pinkish Knuckles color (which isn't really noticeable at all...) and change the knuckles sock green color to make up for the extra shade of red (the lightest shade), then you can have a much better looking knuckles. Just make him wear gray socks or something.

Something like this would look much better IMO.

When I've done the 1st level, I'll take a look at the palette. I believe I've already tweaked Sonic's shoes. But if not, I'll fiddle around. Thanks for the suggestion.

Very nicely done IMO, the concept is quite unique (well I haven't played any Sonic games post Sonic-R, so I have no idea if it's from another Sonic game or something). A few bugs I noticed:

    • Tails still can't use debug mode D: Also is it just me or are his sprites still S2 style? (Actually come to think of it, even Sonic's sprites look like they're using Sonic 2 colours)
    • If Tails flies into a spring, he doesn't stop flying and as a result gets carried up as far as possible
    • When you exit debug mode as Knuckles, the mappings are garbled
    • The game crashing when you place an object in debug right after dying bug is still there
    • Another bug in Sonic 2 which hasn't been fixed yet is the monitor placement bug in debug mode - once you break a monitor placed in debug mode, you can't place another one, it'll just appear as a broken monitor (or in this hack's case not appear at all)
    • If you kill the EHZ boss while he's halfway through digging, during his running away sequence, he flies too low

Pretty easy fixes though, and don't really detract from the game that much I guess. The first level, however, just feels a bit cramped and very confusing - too much going on in too little an area, which can make finding the emerald frustratingly difficult. I suppose spreading the level out over a larger area would go a long way in remedying that.

BTW, I'm almost completely free these days since mocks are over and O levels don't start until the 14th of May, and although real life's been a bit crazy recently, things seem to have settled down quite well, so I'd be more than happy to help in case you need any.

I can't find the emerald in level 1 or, I at least can't get the plane switching to go my way.

You shouldn't even be in debug mode! But yeah, they're the least of my worries at the moment.

I'm so sure we fixed Tails hitting the spring whilst flying. Don't know why that's back.

As for Eggman, I never really considered that as a bug, but can get onto it.

The first level was more cramped before, but I did make it a bit more roomey. There's pretty much 3 floors to search, and making use of them crossing panes. The other levels are not so much cramped.

It's good although in Zone 2 the music restarts at some point near the start of the level.

Also if you are still wanting to use that monitor you should fix Knuckles' pallete for the monitor as well as the shield, I'm sure a grey monitor would look good.

    Good work overall. ;)
