    Next suggestion:

I've noticed that a lot of trialists are just signing up just for Hacktube. Most of these hacks are poor and usually end up being moved to the silly Beginners Hacks section or deleted. I know this sounds a bit nasty in a way, but could Hacktube uploads be limited to full members only?

Well people have said that before, but I guess I don't want Hacktube to be an SSRG exclusive club. For example, Thorn uploaded his wonderful Sonic 2 Retro Remix hack as a trialist.

Yes, but there aren't a lot of decent hacks on Hacktube by Trialists. In fact, if they are decent, only a few "SSRG-exclusive" are, the rest were from Category:Hacks on Retro's wiki.

Well there are only a finite number of hacks in the community, I never went in expecting a large amount of exclusives.

Maybe it might be a good idea if you had a fair amount of posts first before being able to upload a hack, say 10 posts for example. Seems fair to be honest.

Given that somebody has been appointed as "HackTube Moderator", would it be possible for the first hack that somebody uploads to be hidden from view until it's reviewed by said person? If said person decides that the hack is unworthy of public display, it's removed from the database without the public even being made aware of its existence. If the hack is good, the hack is set to be seen by the public, and all subsequent hacks uploaded by the user will default to public. I don't design websites, so I don't know if this is easy to implement or if it's even a practical method of keeping n00bity in check.

I'm a bit against using post count as a sign of hacking ability for obvious reasons -- there are smart lurkers, and there are dumb posters.

Qjimbo's example already disproved that much: it's neither SSRG-exclusive nor on Retro's wiki, and I'm sure there's more hacks that don't fit both criteria.

Why is this listed as a Beginner's Hack when it's a hack of an old version of Sonic 2 Delta?

Things like this is why a report system should be added to hacktube in the future.

I don't even think this and this are beginner hacks. For me are beginner hacks simple palette hacks and not hacks with at least a very bit ASM or Art.

    "It is an early version"

Yeah, the only thing so far is edited layout. I think, hacks which have more features than that fits into the normal section.

No, beginner hacks doesn't contain only palette, you hacktube lover.

    Graxer's Unnamed Sonic 2 Hack:

"My first attempt at hacking Sonic 2. It is a palatte, layout and ASM hack. Currently only EHZ1 is complete and EHZ2 is a WIP."

As you can see, it's a first attempt. Also I think it fits in the beginners, because, yeah, palettes. And the level layout looks quite broken to me--except the background. ASM? I haven't noticed any ASM changes.

(the new) sonic the hedgehog [v0.001]:

Why I've marked this as beginner? Easy. It does contain some art changes, an ASM change, which changes the player, what has been taken from a guide for sure, and a horrible level layout.

    This.

No, SonicVaan, you don't understand. It's stolen. It's using an old version of Sonic 2 Delta as a base.

Now I wonder, if somebody posted a hack that was based of Sonic 1 Megamix, would it be fine on Hacktube?

Wasn't the patch for the Lost Levels and the support in ESEII for the patch so people could make similar hacks? Or is it an actual Delta release?

It wasn't using the patch. The patch is for Sonic 2 Final and the hack was based off Sonic 2 Delta, a hack of Sonic 2 Beta.

Ah, I just assumed you were referring to the patch. Nevermind.

    Sorry for double post, but:

What?! Uploading hacks: Ok. Uploading hacks made by other people and using a wrong image: Not Ok.

Clearly the reason was so epic that if you were to see it it would blow your mind, literally, brain bits all over the place and SSRG refuses to be responsible for any cleanup that would have to take place as a result of said mind blowage.
