Ah! I have GIMP! I'll use that then.

EDIT: I don't see the 8-bit thing in GIMP.

If your using JASC Paint Shop Pro, it's under image tab and it's the "decrease colour depth" option to make the image 256 (8 bit) colours.

If your using Paint.NET, they don't have this option along with saving the image as a PCX file. The only way to get around this is if you own Photoshop in which you need the save the image from Paint.NET as a 8 bit BMP, then open it up in Photoshop to save as a PCX. That's what I did although I'm not sure if it affects the end result in any way from what it should....not from what I've seen.

    Edit:

Oh, Sonic master already beat me to the punch. Ah well.

Or you could just do it in photoshop Just one thing When I did it in photoshop cs5 it saved the colors in 240-256 so just use the last line code and when using the photoshop color reduction select exact and it should say 16 if so save it as a pcx.

Edit: this is the code that I am talking about

    Code:

genitile splash.pcx -tileset -mappal 0 -pal 15 -map

    pause
