Member Problems

Well, then let's get something super-duper-mega awesome that no other site has. Then we can add an introduction forum. Maybe so that without writing a little intro, you have Guest access with writing privileges, but only when you make that post and staff approves you can you get full access. Just my (likely idiotic) idea.

 

The trialist system was a better system than any other method around right now. The entrance test is ridiculously easy and has provided this board with a share of idiots. I'm sure that there are other people, including staff members, who would like to see the trialist system back. After 15 posts or so, judge them and either make them a full member or let them stand out in the cold. If they're horrible before then, just show them the door. People who have been unbanned should also receive a trial period as well in order to see if unbanning the user was a good decision or not, although these matters should be discussed with staff members before implementation anyway.


You need to figure out how to make this place alive again. After all, this board wasn't intended for hacktube only. I have given you a few ideas anyway, but it seems that you aren't interested right now. =P

 

The trialist system would certainly be a good idea. The entrance quiz really just keeps out the idiotic idiots, but not the half idiots, if you get what I mean.


Also Qjimbo: A few weeks back, I sent you an important PM, you haven't answered yet. If it is because you didn't see it yet, I'm asking you to do it now.

 

What I dont like about the trailist system is that you can just spend 15 posts being a good member, Ie not acting like an idiot, and then you "remove your shell" and become the dumbest thing alive. Of course, you could make the trialist only able to post in some forums.


I think the most reasonable forums would be:


The hacking forum (Disscusion Q & A only) to test how smart the guy is


The creative works forum (Art & Music) to test how talented this guy is (unless he is trolling by stealing work of course, that would lead to instant ban)


And the lounge as a read only (We dont want people to think we only hack stuff do we?)

 

Usually it's the other way around "because" of the stupidity, so I have yet to see this happen.

I could have sworn those were veiwable through the trialist system before.


On a side note, the topic was about the amount of members who took it upon them selves to have a go, or snap up at other members if they saw fit, and that they should learn to stay out of trouble and let the staff decide what is right or wrong, and take the appropriate action necessary.

 

I see this as a fair idea.

This also sounds like it could work well.

Qjimbo is very busy right now with personal matters, but I'm sure he will reply to you as soon as he can. :downs:

If this were ever to happen, then I'm sure the staff would show said user the way out of the forum.
