    Been a while since I have updated this thread. Well the name still stands as Sonic 2 Raging Badniks Edition, still thinking of a story for it, which should be easier after I start thinking up cutscene ideas. It features new music ports and new animations, including some art changes too. Now for some screens.

    Hmm...it would be nice if you had given a download link.

    On a different matter, I like what you did with the Super Peel-Out. And the first act of the first level looks pretty well designed. If you would give a download link, I would fire up Kega Fusion and play this hack to see what I think.

    BTW, what are you calling your hack, anyway? Every hack should have a name.

    Yes I made it so the camera can keep up with sonic when he releases the peelout same with Shadows Insta-dashes because they are faster.

    Oh and you probably didnt notice that the badnicks react faster with attacks. All bosses are now faster too and require more hits and the ARZ boss is different too but I wouldnt want to ruin the surprise.

    And concerning the Super Peel-Out, I meant how you got the running animation to show up. You've outsmarted me in that category. Then again, I'm not really a pro at adding new moves to Sonic 2 yet, so yeah. I can only get the walking animation to show up. I guess the running animation just doesn't want to show up for me :p

    1. Unoriginal moves. Sweet God, why does everybody and their mother try to make a Megamix clone. Seriously, Shadow with double jump? Really FUCKING original.

    2. I'm just gonna blatantly pull it out there, your layouts suck. Some pieces don't match, and it just looks ridiculous. Of course, the layout is total ass. I swear, it's like all you new people are taking notes from Dimps. When your level isn't trying to fuck you over...with death pits or shitty object layouts, it's outright confusing. I thought you were going to die about 12 fucking times. What the hell is up with you and leaps of faith, hmm? Just because there's ground at the bottom of your pit doesn't make it good. If I make a layout that leads me to a dead end with only a pit, would you go in it? When nearly 75% of the level has these pits, they lead you to death, so what makes this pit any different? See the point. It's not fucking practical. Also, you have dead ends everywhere, and potential new pathways blocked by spikes. Fuck that. Your layout is pure shit.

    3. God, the palettes. Just ass rape me with a cattle prod. The menu looks like ass. Need I say more?

    4. The ONLY nice thing I can say is that I like how Ice Cap sounds. Music porting is meh, not impressed.

    You basically just said that him and I are both trying to make Megamix clones even though

    Why the hell are you saying the layouts are bad? My initial layouts for my hack (which I am currently remaking) were somewhat similar (I will admit it), yet you didn't say a damn thing about them, if I recall correctly (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't get this one, and it really annoys me when someone does this with no reason whatsoever.


     


     



    About the menu thing, yes, I can agree with you on that. The menu palette does look a bit...well, odd, to say the least. However, all of the other palettes are perfectly fine, the way I see them. Moving on.


     


     



    Well, guess what? I really fucking like the ported music, and quite a few of the tunes fit in very nicely with the levels they're used on. So this makes no sense. However, as much as I dislike everything else you've said about this hack, I must say that I like the Ice Cap music as well.


     


    All in all, I'm pretty much saying that your hatred towards this hack is pointless.


    Now answer this question:


    WHY DO YOU TEND TO HATE ON SO MANY HACKS?!?!?

    Nope. There was plenty of pointers, you're just a dumbass who can't read. I told you exactly what is wrong with your hack. Since it seems you can't fucking read, I will break down my comment.

    How hard is that to understand? Make more original ideas. I'm not going to help give you some. What pointers COULD I give you? I'm not you, I don't know what you want in your hack. All I'm pointing out is that your character move sets are near identical to Megamix.

    Ok, let me break it down.

    1. Your chunks don't even match. To bad I don't have your ROM in hand, otherwise I would annotate this shit. 

    2. You have death pits everywhere. It is ridiculous, to the point that when there are some pits that ACTUALLY lead you somewhere, you wouldn't know or trust that it would. If all the pits lead to death, why is that one single pit going to be different? Instead of having bottomless pits every fucking where, why don't you, I don't know, make alternate paths.

    3. You have springs that lead you up to a path that is a dead end. What's the fucking point? There is none. If one wishes to get to goodies, than let them get it through exploration. You treat the dead end as part of the fucking main path, or some alternate path to the end. Don't do that. Fucking more confusing. 

    4. Object layouts are atrocious and enemy placement is pure shit. Why is there two eggman monitors at the bottom of the pit that leads on as the main path? I mean, difficulty =/= dickishness. Know the difference.

    5. As I said, your layouts are pure shit. Hopefully since I've made everything cleared and in a numbered list, you can understand.

    Really? I need to give you a pointer or tip to this? Fuck that. If a palette sucks, it sucks. If I'd rather be anally raped by a cattle prod than look at it, then that means it sucks. If you can't read the fucking menu, it fucking sucks. EHZ's palette is decent, thankfully, but everything else...no.

    It's just music ports from Chaotix and S3K, why would I be impressed? Because they work? Congratu-fucking-tions.

    You think you're so special that I hate only you? Give me a break, I've been hating on Thomas, SuperMaxwell, Ivan, and bunch of other sniveling little shits. You're not an exceptions. I will say you've definitely improved, but to the point that this hack warrants it's own thread? Yeah...no.

    Well, you're certainly a jerk, SuperEgg. You don't like anything anyone shows you. I bet you never even liked Sonic Megamix. Seriously, THAT'S how much hatred you show towards hacks. Now you need to start liking things. The bar may have raised over the years, but Megamix started development 6 or 7 years ago, and you don't see people hating on that, do you? NO. I don't know who the hell you think we hackers are, but you, sir, need to get your goddamn priorities straight. And I don't mean the goddamn SST either.

    No, I said your LAYOUTS (and palettes) were shit, not the hack itself. The fact you ported in Knux and you put in Shadow is great, though unoriginal, but still shows you've improved. And, I have been told quite a number of times my early hacks suck. Welcome to the Sonic hacking community. You get that quite a bit.

    Now, Thomas.......Man, you just always bring a smile to my face. I mean, seriously. I'm on the ground crying with laughter....like rolling around in pure agony because of how funny this is.

    Look, I've been in this damned community for about five years, spent about two years prior to that lurking, aka, I've been here since I was 12/13. I know what hacks are supposed to be, hell I'm working on two as we speak. With that said, I pay attention to quality. I love Megamix, I really do, but that's just it. Megamix is it's own entity, and when I see this hack, I see Megamix clone. Why?

    a. You have all the characters from Megamix, minus Mighty (Poor Armadillo)

    b. Sonic and Shadow behave almost exactly like they did in Megamix.

    And Tom, before you say, "BUT MEGAMIX WAZ A SONIC 1 HACKZ", I would like to point out, that is a moot point. If you want to play that, so is Sonic 2. Sonic 2 is a heavily modified Sonic 1. What does that have to do with me saying that your hack reminds me of Megamix, nothing much. And that's the point. Engine base means jack shit in the long run. Just because Megamix was a S1 hack doesn't mean that your hack can't remind me of Megamix, which btw, lots of people think the same thing on irc.

    Also, really? I hate ALL hacks, please I hate hacks being rushed into production and released. This would've been fine if he had just posted this in the "General Screenshot/dicks or whatever" thread. Why make a separate thread for something that is far from complete, hell, there isn't even a release link originally. And if he wanted to release it, he could have put this in the "mini project thread".

    I'm a jerk? Really, because I care for quality? Because I aspire for these hackers to get to work. If you people instead used insults and negative feedback as energy to prove somebody wrong, you'd be surprised how far your hacks could go. I say "this hack is shit" to challenge you lot. If you feel discouraged, then obviously you have no place to be here. If that is all it takes for you people to give up and hang the towel, then this isn't the place for you. Unlike some other members that I'm surrounded by, StephenUK comes to mind, I tell it like it is. I don't sugar coat my opinions, and I certainly don't make them nice. It's your job to take up the challenge and use my words as inspiration to better your hacks.

    Also, the bar was raised, you're correct. See, if the year was early 2010, late 2009, this hack would be considered marvelous,but obviously it ain't. Also, people who look at hacks made 6/7 years ago judge it by the standards it was created in. If the hack was released in 2008, why would I judge it on standards that were probably nearly impossible to reach in 2008? 

    I need to get my priorities straight? Really? I'm working on a hack that requires me to understand how three different builds of Sonic 2 be so different, and try to squish them together and make them work without me ripping out my dick hair. I've literally poured in over 40 hours into my hack to make it work like the way it does. Hell, I have vladikcomper doing the menu and sound drivers, but even then, it's still a pain in the ass. I know what it takes to put in effort into a hack. Don't sit here and tell me I don't got my priorities straight.

    Well, then, Joenick. I guess I'll state my opinion on this hack. It's mostly good things, although there are one or two things that annoy me.

    1. LAYOUTS: The layouts you've shown are pretty well designed, and there are some hidden gimmicks and goodies that can be collected. The only thing that annoys me about the first act is where there are two Robotnik monitors in a pit that you're supposed to go down. I suggest you put a floating platform there so people aren't completely thrown to the wolves, as the saying goes. There are a few other sections that need work (read: dead ends), but I still like the layouts and hope to see more

    I give you a 7 out of 10 for layouts.

    2. CHARACTERS: As I said before, I like what you did with the Super Peel-Out. I myself can't really work with the Super Peel-Out since it's so complicated to implement, hence why it won't give me the running animation in my hack. :p Tails doesn't seem to be able to do much, so I think you should give Tails his flying ability from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Seeing Shadow in this hack already makes me want to play it. He's so cool, and considering he has a double jump, an insta-spindash, and a normal insta-dash, it seems like his gameplay is pretty balanced, unlike most hacks, which only focus a character's gameplay on one aspect of said gameplay.

    I give you a 10 out of 10 for characters.

    3. PALETTES: Now, there is one thing that annoys me about the palettes: The one for the menu screens. It seems a bit strange and looks like it could use some work, but I could give you some pointers on editing menu palettes and such if you want. The rest of the palettes, however, are simply AMAZING. They fit in really nicely, and the big accomplishment here is that you managed to get an alternate palette for a different act of the level.

    I give you a 9 out of 10 for palettes.

    4. BOSSES: The boss of Sunset Hill has an arena layout similar to Sonic 2 Retro Remix, but I like it for that. Seems as though you made the boss really fucking fast. That kind of thing really annoys me because I think that the faster a boss is, the more overpowered it is.

    I give you an 8 out of 10 for bosses.

    5. MUSIC: Seeing as you've only ported music from Chaotix and S3K, I like how you matched the levels with the music. It feels as though you've taken the capabilities of the Sonic 1 sound driver and utilized them to their full extent. For that, I really like how you did with porting the music.

    I give you a 10 out of 10 for music.

    LAYOUTS SCORE: 7

    CHARACTERS SCORE: 10

    PALETTES SCORE: 9

    BOSSES SCORE: 8
    MUSIC SCORE: 10

    TOTAL SCORE: 44/50 - Amazing

    (Just so people know, this is going to be how I judge a hack from here on out.)

    Well...you definitely seem to know what you're talking about. In all honesty, I had not a fucking clue what you go through with hacking. And here I thought Sonic hacking was fairly easy...

    SuperEgg, I apologize if I made myself seem like one of those people who argues with everything, but I am simply a very, VERY honest person, PLUS I am in no way serious about hacking to any extent. I really like hacks, I really do, but I've seen you talk bad about several other hacks, and it has begun to anger me beyond belief. You see, I get really ticked off when someone appears to hate on something without reason. Again, I apologize if I have offended you in any way, and I wish you luck with your future endeavors, because I'm starting to think about quitting hacking because of the way I look at how many hacks you don't seem to like. It justs saddens me to see so many hacks dismissed because of one tiny little thing. Okay more than one tiny little thing, but still, hopefully, you get my point. I hope this helps you understand my feelings about the situation, and I once again wish you luck with your future endeavors.

    Sorry I got pissed but when I read your response to my hack all I felt it was saying was your hack sucks bla bla not original bla bla give up. That's why a lot of the members on here give positive criticism, they don't want people to be giving up because in reality the sonic hacking game is slowly dying take green snakes hack for example now that hack was well like a two year old hacked it I dot know what gave him the idea of having GHZ background say green snake in glitchy graphics

    That's because he was trying impress people. EVERYONE IS TRYING TO IMPRESS PEOPLE. And yet so much of it gets dismissed...never to be seen again...it just saddens me to even think about it.

    But you have to admit his palettes made you want to puke and btw I never played it I just saw mega G Wolf do a review on it
