So about 3 weeks ago I began work on this rom hack which I would call "Sonic 2: Longshot" for now, and I guess I'll post small updates about it here or something.
So far, I've fixed a whole bunch of bugs in vanilla Sonic 2, and made a few new monitors (actually, I replaced the tails' 1-UP and robotnik monitors) which do the following:
Hi-Jump Monitor(Shown in the screenshot below): Allows Sonic to jump as high as he would when Super, wears off after 30 seconds.
S Monitor: nearly the same as it was in S3K, but it doesn't automatically turn you Super.

I'm hoping I can actually get somewhere with this at some point, with a few original zones and accompanying badniks and whatnot.

And here's some gameplay footage captured with Kega Fusion

The reason why I haven't uploaded a download link is because I'm in the middle of fixing bugs with the monitors, and trying to fix fade in and fade out routines, I guess.

Interesting start; perhaps the Hi-Jump power-up should have some sort of jingle and/or visual indication (a la invincibility), so that you know when it finishes?

Yeah, that would be a good idea.

Now if only I knew how to do such a thing...

Please don't double post in the future, you could have edited your first post to add what you put in your second post.

    Okie dokie

So I must copy the contents of my second post, paste it into my first post, and then delete my second post?

Just leave it. You've been told not to do it again, so learn from it and apply that practice next time when you forgot to add information to a post.

Got it. I just needed a bit of clarification I guess.
