Whoever's in charge of the site (Cinossu, I assume) really needs to add the trophy descriptions from the "About" page to the voting section of each hack. How is anybody supposed to know, for example, that "D.A. Garden Trophy" means "best overall hack". Seems like a pretty major oversight.

e: whoops, Hidden Palace trophy is for best overall hack. I think this just proves my point :p

What? Did you really upload that accidently? =P

I kid you not, I panicked, my PC died in the last week to update my submitted hack(Conveniently). I got it to work for 1 day before the contest, worked on it through the night till like 4:00am. Was so sleepy I just picked what I thought was the right rom and submitted it in like the last 5 minutes or so. Went to sleep, woke up, went to my disassembly and realized what I had done. Oh well, if my PC hadn't have died.

Seconded. Especially since people seem to be confusing the Big the Cat Trophy with the Froggy Trophy.

I would of thought that they'd let you use your first uploaded one if you updated it with a Vanilla Sonic 1, surely?

No no its fine, both of them to be fair(even though the first is slightly better) aren't worth playing. The other has more modifications but still not quite worthy of a play just yet. I release it normally soon though.

You should make a comment on your hack page telling people of the issue. You might confuse some people who are checking it from sonic retro.

Yeah I know, I was going to.

Edit: When I get a chance, I can't get on to the site.

Same. It's been down for a good 10 minutes. Started off as a forbidden URL, now it's saying it's not found.

    The site says:

The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    That just happened with me?

    EDIT: Ninja`d. >_>

I suppose the positive thing (if you can call it that) to come out of the site overloading is that it shows just how popular these contest are :victory: , and how much people around the world truely appreciate all the hard work and effort that everyone in the hacking community puts in to make it all possible :drinks: .

One first playthrough of the Mega Drive entries: A few good and interesting concept hacks there spread through some general all-rounders which in themselves swim in an ocean of mediocrity. Seriously, there are some hacks which barely pass the quality minimum that is set by the rules. Very barely. You should've been more specific with what you meant when you said "level layout only hacks are allowed again".

Another critique is that Sonic Tetris entry. While I do see how much work has gone into it and how well polished it is, it is essentially Tetris with a GHZ background. Yes, you can play in Sonic 1 mode with Tetris special stages, but in the end it's still just that, Tetris. It's essentially homebrew in my opinion.

I'm not saying that all of these entries are bad. I just want to show that you guys don't seem to be enforcing your own rules properly. READ THE RULES! :V

When I first saw the title I immediately thought of Sonic Team's latest release, Puyo Puyo Tetris; however, and no offence to the hack's creators, at least that game combined the two franchises in a way that gave them both a refreshing twist.

Some entries were disappointing, like Crazy Sonic. That one was awful! And Metal Sonic Hyperdrive didn't go through as many changes as I anticipated since its last release. I was let down by the low amount of stand out hacks.
