Why are you blantely stealing Markey's Thread Idea?

After the thread that was MarkeyJester's was unpinned and locked. I think it's a good idea that it gets brought back, slightly reworded so that it sounds more like a community thing (I can't help but think of the original thread being less of "How can this be improved" and moreso "How can MarkeyJester improve it?" though that is just a minor nitpick.

I think it's a shame that the original topic was locked because seemed like it was doing fine (besides a couple hiccups, but come on the internet isn't perfect)

    Rules (Modified from Markey's thread):
    1. By posting any images, music, sounds, codes, any form of assets, you give everyone publicly the right to modify and represent it here in this thread for improvement.
    2. Anyone who modifies the asset in question, may only post it in this thread, nowhere else.
    3. Anyone who posts a modified asset to help, you do just that, and accept the fact that the "requester" may use it free of charge.
    4. Since this is a small collaboration thread on minor assets, understand that credit does NOT have to be given at any time. Anything you improve, you do so at the kindness of your heart, without asking anything in return. The purpose is to help give a little kick in the right direction.
    5. Only the initial "requester" may use the improved variations of their own design. Others can contribute, but they may not use what they contributed (because let's face it, that wouldn't be fair).
    6. You are allowed to give Criticism as long as it's really good. Also, you have to at least visually explain what you mean.
    7. If you decide you don't need any help anymore, then just say so in a edit right away so people wanting to help can help others faster.
    8. Be sure to include any files that might make it easier to help. Like the palette for sprites, midi or asm file for smps, etc.
With that being said, I got something to start us off.

I've had Luigi in Sonic 1 on the back burners for a really long time, after finally getting back to it, I found better luigi sprites and have been importing them, but I am not good at palette management so that's where i need help.

I need to get the 4 grays back somehow without hurting luigi too much, I dunno if that is possible though. (To be honest the monitors and badniks look fine being blue, it's mostly the blue numbers in the hud that I don't like)

So I was wondering what tips you guys can bring that'll help me reduce the color usage on Luigi.

You wanna know the reason I locked the older thread? The REAL reason?

It wasn't Eduardo Knuckles. It was you guys, you all completely disregarded the rules of the thread that were written in the first post. You turned the thread from a "How can I improve this" thread, into a "General Screenshot" thread, and since we already had the latter, I locked it. But then you go that extra step and disrespect my decision, by posting a virtual duplicate.

I've tried helping you guys, I've tried to give you something enjoyable, I even helped contributed financially to get this site moved to better forum software, as well as the license. All I ask is that my decisions on this board regarding MY threads, remain respected and followed, and if locked, remained lock.

I don't appreciate that, anyone could have posted at any time, and others did. In fact, I only did two things, please don't make out that it was only me doing the work.

Is was reopened because it is a really great idea. If this thread will get locked again, somebody most likely will make it again.
I was throwing my post as a suggestion and nothing more.
Several people got help this way. They won't like to see this go.

    Excuse me?

I'm not fucking stupid, I KNOW why you all opened the thread, stop stating the obvious. I don't think you even read my post.

Whether it's a good idea is irrelevant, you don't go behind someone's back, and remake their thread "because it's a good idea", it's disrespectful, it's rude, and it doesn't get me on your good books.

Also, if this was made, then people need this, you know?

Is this idea copyrighted or something? You discarded it, Luigi picked it up.
You want this place to be better? Then why are you doing that?

To throw in my thoughts on the original topic for what it's worth, despite the fact you said that you didn't want it to become criticism, in the same post you also stated the topic was for "minor edits". Now, if someone posts something which needs quite a lot of rework, as was the case with E.Knuckles, then I think feedback on that was a better choice than everyone just ignoring the post because it was too much effort. That would come across as people being uncaring and would look as though people were choosing to ignore him, which wouldn't make him feel great about himself. I understand the approach you were going for, and it is a good idea and would still be treated separately from the GS&V topic, but there's a line between something that needs tweaking and something that needs a complete reworking, and the topic isn't really suitable for that as people would then want credit for such an undertaking. Personally, I feel feedback instead of ignoring to be a better option, but whatever.

Remaking a thread is disrespectful? Rude? Come on now man, please be real here and calm yourself down.
@LuigiXHero remade the thread to help better the community and continue what had been started. I highly doubt that he had malicious intent behind this, yet you act as if this is an awful spit in the face towards you.
You had every right to shut down the other thread because you thought it was being used for the wrong purposes, but absolutely nothing is stopping Luigi from doing what he did.

Alright I am confused why the other thread was locked, you guys were saying people were treating it as the "General Screenshot and Video Thread" I dont see how this was the case. Maybe with Egor but I don't think he was just showing off and actually thought his title screen needed work. Idk maybe there is something I am missing?

For the record I had no ill intentions for starting this idea back up. I guess my expectations for a thread like this is different from yours Markey.

Now let's get back on topic shall we? (Can I request the staff to split the off-topic posts?)

'A' is the original for comparison and uses the palette on top. 'B' and 'C' use the default Sonic 1 palette with the brightest shade of blue exchanged for one shade of green. 'B' is a straight remapping of colors where as 'C' has a slight modification of the skin tones to closer match the look of 'A'. I used the darkest and lightest grays as a pseudo representations of their respective shades of green. I'd wager the rest of the sprite frames would require editing the skin tones as well, but it doesn't really require much effort to do so.

I suggest a re-shade of Luigi's sprites to fit more into this game's artstyle, though this process may be a tad time consuming.

Oh boy, where do I even begin:
I already know the Pikachu sprite is nightmare fuel, so thankfully, AsuharaMoon is helping me out there. But there are other problems, too.
    • The background is very repetitive. I was trying to go for a "so many forest trees that it looks like an ocean of leafs" kind of look, but failed.
    • The tileset is a minor edit of Green Hill Zone and not foresty enough. I was trying to go for a "what if Green Hill Zone was a forest" kind of look.
    • That Moto-Bug edit? What was supossed to be a Moto-Bug version of Scyther, a Gen 1 Bug-type POKéMON. I mean, it does look more mantis like, but I'm still not satisfied with the end results.
If someone could help me out improve this, I would be glad.

    Also, post number 33! Whoo!

I suggest changing the palm trees to look more like the trees in Viridian Forest.

Use the above image in the spoiler as a reference, if you want. Palm Trees in a forest doesn't make much sense.

Well, that's something CaveQuest is already doing, but what else can be improved?

Maybe the monitors could be edited to be more like a Pokeball? Like, the button in the middle has the item, or each monitor is colored differently to indicate which item does what.

You should use SonLVL's art importing feature to completely redo the background into something more forest-like. You can also replace the palm trees with Hill Top Zone's trees. The Motobug's sprites can be replaced with Scyther sprites. Simple tile edits lole you did aren't going to cut it for making GHZ into a forest.

ok going to stop you guys there and remind you that, you guys need to actually show off what you are talking about and not actually just say c&c.
