I had the same 500 error (mentioned somewhere else?) occur to me when sending a PM. I refresh the page, and it's sent 2 PMs of the exact same content at the same time. Weird.

At the bottom of the page, you'll see "Change Theme".  Can any of you change to "Default IPS theme"?  I just tried it and the forums looks a lot tidier.  I also haven't had any 500 server issues since but that might just be a huge coincidence.

    EDIT:  Lol, epic fail!

At least the forum looks nicer.

EDIT2:  Oh dear goodness, even the PM system is double posting.  Or double PM topics when making a new PM.  And for some reason the emeralds are above the avatars in the IPS theme.  Grrr....

Is it me, or is the "new post detection" thingy (for a lack of a better term) acting wonky? Like, for instance, "Showcase" is bolded, so I go check for new posts. I then see no new posts added.

IPS is trying to legitimately make us ragequit. Either that or everyone who's working on IPS are braindead monkeys.

Yeah, yeah, Invision's got us screwed sideways. I think that point's well-established. Can we please just shift to focusing on bug reports here instead of re-iterating the same "Fuck IPB/IPS" messages? It's better we just try to make the best out of this mess and make it work until another plan is decided on. Repeating the same thing over and over again isn't going to fix anything, and is probably just going to annoy those that are trying to make this thing limp by.

On the subject of bug reports, please do detail what you were doing and how it was triggered. The more information there is, the better the staff can hone in on where the issue lies and possibly resolve it. If people don't feel like this topic is fitting for bug reports, then let's move things to a proper bug report topic. I know I'm overstepping my bounds, but I'm tired of hearing this shit, and I think the staff would prefer to see information that can be used productively. Bitching won't get us anywhere, but trying to hone in on what's wrong might.

From what I've heard, Matt Mecham (one of the founders of IPB) wanted to have this upgrade be a fresh start for IPB. Brandon Farber (bfarber in the community) has been tirelessly working on getting bugs fixed. I will admit that my community is also not particularly fond of IPB4, but alas, without a lot of toil and tears, it wouldn't be feasible to revert to 3.4.

In any case, I've not had too big a problem with IPS Support, although I will agree, they really want people to use the clusterfuck that is IPB4.

Thing is, this was the first time I ever opened a support ticket with IPB that was actually regarding an issue with their software. And I got told to go fuck myself. That has sealed the deal on moving away from IPB. They released a complete fucking mess on us all, and can't be arsed to help paying customers get said fucking mess to work properly.

Wow. Getting the double post and 500 error crap when posting myself now.

We can all agree on one thing now...Invision is a fucking mess of a company.

If this is a double, triple, quadruple, or even HEXTUPLE post, I will have a high chance of sending IPS a little message saying that they can go fuck themselves.

I've been told I've done a sextuple in the Random Mini Hack/Project thread, but I just can't see them. So I asked someone to post in there, in the hopes it'd get mine to show up. At first, nothing happened, but now that guy's post is visible... mine still aren't.

I saw all those repeated posts when they were first made, but now they seem to be missing. Maybe they got deleted?

As of right now, the front runner for what to shift to is XenForo. However, a transition to it will not be feasible for several months still.

Unless people wanted to cough up the cash.

Indeed. XenForo costs money, and neither Ordos nor the rest of the staff are made of cash. If people want to cough up the cash needed to get a license and start transitioning to XenForo, then IPS4 can be kicked to the curb faster. It's all up to the lot of you, though. I'm not staff and can't speak for them, but I'm up for the challenge of a transition at any point here.

I'm sure for the sake of migration to something better some of us would be perfectly happy with donating money to get it. I'd be able to throw a twenty or something in in a couple weeks time, myself.

If it means getting away from this bug-fested place, I would throw a few quid your way.  I'm getting tired of deleting 20 odd posts and topics each day due to double/triple/quad posts.

How much is a XenForo license? From what I was able to find, it's $140, which sounds feasible enough to get done by some donations. Of course, this is probvided you don't need any of the listed extras (such as the +$250 just to remove the copyright logo, which just sounds ridiculous to me).

I could definitely toss in a twenty or something.
