    It sure would be da bomb if the ring would actually go and rotate fast if you're running fast, or slow when you've stopped, like in advance. I love where you're going with that, but I think a subtle gradient over the numbers would give it a really polished look.

    Indeed we're here to make the impossible possible, and with vladikcomper's skills, this should be child's play. Nice work on the HUD by the way, it actually feels a little cleaner and more organised somehow!

    Yes, but I mean that if you run full speed, the ring will rotate really fast, or totally slow when standing still, and the appropriate speeds in between, like Sonic Advance 2.

    Thanks for your replies guys :p


    Idea with spinning ring just when you collect one is great as well as the idea about changing ring's speed.


    The ring on my HUD is currently static, I didn't make any animation because I though animation there would distract player's attention during the game.


    Anyways, my main attempt on this code was to make HUD use less sprites and free VRAM, I didn't think about its design alot. This is the very first version of new HUD, so I'll be working on it and try out the ideas you suggested. =)

    I know some of you my be tired of seeing my hack with only sonic as a playable character, but I did a little something on my spare time which I think to myself is an accomplishment.

    Does tails have his tails? can he fly/swim? if not its not very impressive. If you did then good job.

    not right now at the moment but I plan to port over what you said about the flying and the swimming. and yes he does have tails on him.

    Hope to release soon, add some pipes to make it more futuristic and named it future hill for the future.

    I love that you've done something that feels fresh and new.


    Fix the shadowing under the grass, clean up the mountains in the background,


    finish up the textures, and it'll be perfect. ;)

    Hmm... Future Hill Zone? Could that be suggesting time travel? or are you just gonna do what Sonic cd did; made it the future on act 3?

    But thats more or less how the mountains are from marble garden zone, so maybe you don't like the mountains from mgz? I dunno. And as for your assumption....

    Nice! but why exactly is the HUD orange? Does it do the little "PAST!" and "FUTURE!" sound effect when you run past the pole? It does look quite nice, I'm looking forward to moar stuff.

    Its orange because I changed the palette of the yellow for a reason, but may revert it or reimport the art over it. It doesn't say those sound effects because the way you do timetravel in my hack, is different then in sonic cd. Anywho.. I wasn't going to do a bad future hill but..

    I started working on a bad future hill palette. I also tried to create a dull more bad remake of the ghz music for it. How I will decided on whether you'll bad or good will be a simple idea.(Unless I get a better idea) And hope to release it sometime this week, proberly the weekend.

    You changed it to orange so Tails doesn't look like a urine stained fox.


    I'm liking the new BG, although I hated those leaves because they looked chopped up.

    I know its only a sonic cd bg sorry... its better than the old one though right? my trial version of photoshops has ran out so I need a new pcx editor... if anyone can link me to a free pcx editor thats good I would be most grateful.

    Maybe you can try out PaintShop. I've used it and it's quite nice. If I remember correctly, The GIMP also has PCX Support, and also has lots of the features of the expensive editors, but it's free.
