I think a Sonic hack set in the Mushroom Kingdom should be based around the Sonic-style level design, not the more linear, slower-paced Mario-style.

Right now I plan to only do is recreate 1-2 from SMW.
I might do more sonic style layouts for act 2 and 3 though. Depends on my level of motivation.

After a little time without anything completelly finished to show, here it is, a pause interface, completelly working, it is animated and changes the color of the gameplay screen to look it is frozen:

To those who've played Smash Brothers, I'ms sure you've seen those palette swapped Sonic's.
    For example, green:

Well, I'm about ready to fix that.
I guess I could take requests, if anyone wanted..

So, here, I present to you..
    The real.. Green Sonic!
And, in Super Smash Brothers for 3DS!

Looks pretty good. However, I think the flashing colors need a better palette. I say you should make the red lighter, so that the flashing text looks more legible.

Very nice. But the colors in the letters needs to have less contrast. The yellow ones are OK, but the red/brown ones are too dark.

To be honest, I kinda preferred the old name. Also, the instrumentation in the title music is kinda strange IMO.

Also, the "SONIC" logo on the title screen seems to have a lot of jagged edges, which makes it look rather awkward if you ask me. You don't have to do anything about my other two gripes constructive criticisms, but I would definitely recommend fixing the jagged edges.

Other than that, good work so far!

Your stuff is looking amazing as usual Mr. Cat. Keep up the good work!!

I do have a tiny nitpick though. Why is that laser just one solid color without highlights? It isn't a big deal but it would be a small improvement.

The palette is very pleasing in the top left screenshot, MrCat. The art is decently mixed which makes it look both Sonic-like and fresh without drawing too much attention to the fact that the art is mostly reused from other games. I'm less impressed with the right screenshot, but I feel as though that's because there's less to see. I like my levels rich with eye candy to the point where you can taste the level by looking at it. It's difficult to describe since I have a disorder that causes synaesthesia, but the right image simply lacks a diverse palette, I suppose. Nothing inherently bad about the graphics, though. Very good.

I love it but, I don't think sonic fits very well with the level anymore. Maybe S2 sonic would fit better? or a change of his palette?

This title screen was brilliantly made! I like how the airplane comes. Though I think that the airplane's helixes would be better if they're much faster than it is. Still, the "SONIC SCORCHED QUEST" text needs more light and shadow effects to make it richer than it is. The song played on the screen doesn't sound familiar to me. It's original?

It's a song I composed in the past called "Dream Machine". You can actually hear it in the BakaSonic sound test. I decided to give Painto the song since it was unused and BakaSonic is done being worked on.
