He just looks so fucking... tasty!
Dibs on the leg.
But in all seriousness, I love this idea and I am curious to know how this will work out.
The black shading behind the number 2 could use some work. either way, decent choice of colors. I bet it's animated via palcycle.

Do stuff have deformation? Anyway, It looks unique, I like it.
So, Its Back In Time: Next Chapter)
I do enjoy the time I spend on my research/RE work.
As much as I like that picture, I am struggling to read the foreground text. It clashes. Or is my eye sight playing up again? =P
Well it's just me grabbing art from the Chaotix Prototypes. I'm data mining the beta's for something special.
In that case, maybe a different screenshot for the level select would be better. And something special?
Also, a friendly warning, but please do not quote the post directly above yours, thanks
Thanks to the assistance of one LuigiXHero, this is now not entirely broken. Yay, progress.
What happens in this shot? I'm guessing it's a boss as such?
That looks awesome ThomasSpeedrunner.
Yup, pretty much. I mean, it's a very early WIP, so I don't have much done, but in the final product this will be a boss. I still have lots to do, though.
Oh my god, that looks.... unique to say the least!
I almost NEVER get to say that, therefore, you're doing something right~ dX
Thanks, Markey. It's not often anyone calls what I do "unique," so I take that as quite the compliment. =p
However, the biggest obstacle with this is no doubt going to be finding someone willing to make a new set of Sonic sprites to go with the style of the game this is from. And, all things considered, I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon unless I can finish the level, except it's a catch-22 because to finish the level, I need to be able to account for Sonic's collision in the final product, and I can't do that unless his sprites properly reflect it.
As the first level I intend to finish, it'll probably be the hardest to finish making. It will be finished, however, even though when it'll be done is anyone's guess.
Most hacks should have screens like this one at startup. I'm personally against repro carts, you guys may not be, but just think about some random guy selling and making money off of your hard work that you've been working on for months.
I thought about that....
...until someone told me that they end up hacking the screen out before putting it on repro carts, which makes it pointless.
I love the font art though, it's quite snazzy lookin'
Wait... Someone actually told you they would do that? That's... really fucked up...
Also, thank you.
If I am correct, during the MS-DOS/Amiga era, it was quite common that game programmers had to add lots of anti-piracy checks and hide them inside many parts of the code. According to Hybrid, Prehistorik 2 had many in the scroll engine, for example.
I imagine this screen could be added within ROM... and then hide some checks on the obscure corners... checks to ensure the screen has suffered no changes, such as checksums, byte-perfection, perhaps to very specific parts, or only the resource data, who knows...
