Both trailers have good and bads. From one part there are the technical issues, and from other , I find SWA's trailer to be effortless and less creative, although done with better care.

Aw, sorry for this one, it was meant to @Solar.

I gotta say @Solar, that's a really interesting concept! Will you just be remaking Lost World's levels in 2D or will you also incorporate a more Lost-World-Like playstyle (where there's little to no gravity)?

My only little nitpick is that the level you showed off, though it seems to be a remake of Windy Hill, doesn't really look like Windy Hill. Your art is pretty dang awesome, but I don't feel as if it accurately captures how geometric the art in Sonic Lost World looks. Please don't take that the wrong way, because like I said, I really do love the art, but it just doesn't feel like Windy Hill to me, or even Sonic Lost World for that matter.

Criticism aside, I'm really interested to see where this hack goes and I'll definitely keep my eye out for it. :)

I love the layout! It looks like it captures the better parts of labyrinth Zone rather well, and the move set really fits! As one of the few people who genuinely enjoys labyrinth zones playstyle, I'm excited! The artwork is also absolutely stunning, and fits in perfectly with the level, the Background music, and its' overall theme; you can barely even tell that the background art was ported, because it fits so well :D

Even though the art is reused, you have done a decent job of making it looking nice and with the new palette it makes it seem a bit fresh. That palette seems to fit it very well. I'm wondering though, Sonic was underwater for a long time, I did not once here the countdown timer.

Decided to start Sonic hacking again. Here's a small WIP:

Hopefully it's okay for me to use that background

I didn't alter or corrupt the mappings in any way, it's just the tiles they were pointing to have been relocated.

just be sure to remove or alter the grass, as it's annoying to see grass on desert levels.

Actually, I plan on completely overhauling the graphics. So that way I won't have to worry about grass at all :p

How is this annoying? And why should he adjust his aesthetic to what doesn't annoy you? Grass in a desert level could be interesting.

For those that are unsure on where you probably have seen the art used in DevEd's screenshot, I believe that this will allow you to figure it out right away.
I knew that I had seen it before, I felt horrible that it went unused in the final build; at least it is finally getting some form of love now through this, I hope that it will be a worthy challenge of a zone while still making it look beautiful to the maximum.

@DevEd: Ooo I like that, good use of the Desert Dazzle assets. The blue grass also fits surprisingly well considering it's a desert setting.

Radiant Ruin zone is hogging all my attention it seems. Been tweaking the water palettes a bit, also added some diamond crystal things:

Absolutely beuatiful, jub! The crystals may seem somewhat simple, but they go a mile and makes your stage that much better looking too! Radiant Ruins is looking to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing levels I've seen in ages!

Rather than the trailer, I'm just going to comment about the content itself since it's what matters. Wonderful artwork, Solar, can't wait for seeing more progress. Hope we get to see new levels in the future, too.

    @jubbalub
Nice details, I guess. It's starting to give a more unique feel now.

There were PLENTY of grassy deserts in hacks, it you didn't know. That's just unfitting. IMO

What do other hacks have to do with this? And what about it is unfitting? Unless I am not understanding your posts correctly, it seems that you're implying that having a desert-themed level with grass is inherently wrong and 'unfitting'. You said nothing about why there was something visually wrong with the grass, only that it annoys you to see it in desert levels. I don't see how that is constructive; it looks as if you are mandating that someone else should follow what you think is thematically appropriate, rather than criticizing the art itself. You could have brought up anything about the grass (maybe something about the color, shape, or even the fact that it is appears to be the 'Green Hill/Marble Zone' grass), or even offer a suggestion, yet you decided that it should change/be removed because it thematically 'annoyed' you. Being annoyed by 'grass in desert levels' is your problem, not his.

Well I think desert's main thing is the limited vegetation so grass doesn't make very much sense. However having grass in a desert could make for something visually interesting and who says a game about a giant blue hedgehog who can run at the speed of sound has to have realistic environments?

I wonder, Sonic is suppose to be realistic? I always thought "no". Was I wrong? For me treating grass on dust is like searching needle in everything. It's stupid for me. Background is amazing for me. Palette also. And I'll be annoyed by grass and say "this is shit, becaus it has grass". Stuff like this isn't constructive opinion, it's bashing something good for minor shit for me...
