Sonic Hacking Contest 2015

I would recommend that you check to ensure that you are giving the box the right information.

For example, if you have a link like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReiQfiPzjF8

Just type (or copy/paste) the video ID, into the box like so: ReiQfiPzjF8

I have 2 videos for my own entry, and all I did was the above. I have to ask though; are your videos unlisted/private, or are they public? Just a hunch, but that may also be an issue.

 

Still it doesn't work. And my video is public. Both links doesn't work on my entry.

 

I've just looked and it appears that the video ID for the video you've provided isn't being saved correctly. Instead, it's showing up as https://yout instead of a valid YouTube video ID. I can't do much else here, other than recommend you try and add a new video with the same ID, and see if that works.

 

Okay, probably a stupid question, and the default text probably said but I obviously over-written that with my text, but, how do you update the ROMs?  I clicked "Upload New File" and uploaded it.  To make sure (even after a refresh), I re-download my file, and it's still coming up with my old one.

​I've fixed your YouTube video issue on the SHC site myself. The URL you were using was incorrect, and the URL in your description was also wrong.

I've amended the video and it now works. Feel free to change the description on your entry.

If you have any more issues, let me know, and I'll do my best to fix them.

 

I checked, but still it doesn't work and when I tried change links again - it's still doesn't work. Maybe it's my browser issue? I'm using Google Chrome...

 

I had already fixed it for you, but now it's broken again. I've just fixed it for you again and can confirm it does work on my end.

Like I said, the link in the description of your entry is also incorrect as it has an extra \ in it for no reason.

EDIT: OK, there does indeed appear to be a problem with your entry. For some reason, the video works when you initially add the URL and then click the video to watch it, but as soon as you return to the page (refresh, or go away and come back), the video URL is not the same. It appear that a \ is being added to the video ID after the O and before the _ so the video ID changes from this - Q634zBA5O_E to this - Q634zBA5O\_E which breaks it. This is also happening to the link in the description, so I apologise for implying it was your mistake.

 

The underscore is wrongly escaped. All you can really do (in case Cinossu doesn't fix it in time) is to reupload the video and hope that the new URL doesn't contain an underscore.

 

A reminder that the deadline to update your submission is 12am BST / 7pm EDT. If your entry is still marked as Incomplete at that time, it will not be a part of the contest.

Please help! My entry is still listed as incomplete. It said I couldn't finalize it because I needed at least 3 pieces of media when I posted 5 (including a title screen).

 

On the top right there was a dedicated location where to post the title screen (a blank image that you gotta double click). I didn't get that at first either. Just hope you still have the ability to do it. Otherwise you may wanna PM any of the judges if there's something to be done about your situation, since it clearly wasn't your intent.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: The default description being the instruction text was a horrible decision. Once you've overwritten it and need to check out one more thing you're screwed. You seriously gotta fix that for next year.

Also, this year's live-streamers have a hell of a lot of hacks to get through.

 

50 hacks. Wow. This will take quite some time to play through. I'm sure I'm not speaking for myself here when I say I'm so glad not to be a judge. Good luck to everyone!

 

Holy shit, that much hacks? I guess I'll have to make a marathon. So wait, there's no Partial Private? That's interesting in my opinion.

 

There were two Partial Private entries during the day, which switched to Public before the deadline expired. So obviously everyone is comfortable showing their work to the entire public this year.

Makes you wonder if next year, maybe it should all be Public, if this can be pulled off. Then again, it might put some people off from entering, so maybe not. The only thing so far about next year is that I'll be keeping the October deadlines since they seemed to work out rather well.

 

But this been hell for those who have school (including myself). So I would greatly appreciate it if it wasn't during school year next year.
