Sonic Zoom!

I could probably do SMPS music for a few of your hack's themes, but first, I'd have to find a MIDI of what you're looking for. If one doesn't exist, then you'd have to ask around and see if anyone's willing to do it by ear.


Anyway, sweet hack; I remember downloading older versions at Retro, but I haven't gotten around to playing the new version yet. (Adds another thing to the never-ending to-do list.)

I want you to try to get as close to the original as you can, but you don't need the whole song. I only need the song from 0:00 to around 1:06, and then loop back to around 0:08.

Edit: Only took 10 minutes to get working with the channel limit, didn't change any of the voices, and than another 5 to loop it, ill work on it more if its not exactly what you want, if your interested, Also, Sorry Xeta, but this is what being bored does to me lol

Yeah I will, but first I have to fix the DAC, since I use the flamewing driver and the DAC from Sonic 3K, I tested it in Sonic 1 with the bin file, and one of the DAC voices is the sega sound in s1.


Edit: In other words the DAC will be different.

 

I would have downloaded the latest version of this hack, but 4shared apparently asks me to get some shitty installer thing and I don't really want to have to install a bunch of shit to play a ROM hack.

 

You can also download for free through a social media site (that and yotube are all google + is good for XD)?

Alright guys, I have an announcement to make. I'll post one last update before I start work on Frantic Factory Zone. It'll have ALL acts Crystal Cavern and Molten Madness completed, along with a few tweaks here and there in a few other levels and a bit more new graphics. All the work is done, but it will be posted when Xeta finishes his SMPS of Eridan's theme, so I can pick between the two. So, when there aren't updates in a while after the next one, you'll know why.

Eesh, listening to Joenick's version, it does sound pretty butchered. That's not meant to come across as rude or anything, but I do have my complaints.


For instance, you used ride cymbals in the place of the open hi-hats and thus kicked out most of the snares, making the song sound empty. And while you could change those to kicks or snares for Sonic 1, there would be no hi-hats. Also, PSG sounds totally borken.

I just now realize that I should've used a different intro lead instrument. That, and I should have kept in the small slowdown section before the loop point. Ah well, I can always go back and make those changes.


So Looney, any reason as to why you chose Joenick's? I'm not being rude and saying that you can't use his, I'm just curious if there was anything major going on in mine that you didn't like. It is your hack, so it's your decision.


This is my final Trialist post here, so I hope I was good enough for you. (Hey, I've survived Retro, so I shouldn't be too worried.)

 

Yeah I kind of hate S1 drums, I work with S3K DAC as stated a couple posts back, I couldn't make the DAC sound good with S1s sorry but its just my opinion that S3Ks is far superior. I rushed too, since I didn't think he would consider using mine, since you offered first, and I kind of was a dick for doing a version, the version I made with the Sound driver I use sounds a lot better, also that's how one of the PSG voices sounds in S1, another reason I don't like S1 stock instruments  Anyway on the hack itself, the levels seem pretty empty, I can tell your struggling on Ideas, on what to do with it. Well from CCZ onward the level layouts seems empty, shame we wont see some updates for a while, because I know you are capable of improving these layouts. Thats all, sorry Zeta if this post sounded dickish.

Edit: Loony you can switch to his, since he offered first and mine was rushed.

Edit2: The DAC is better, but you got rid of a lot of notes, seems like you erased a whole channel to make this work.

 

I'm digging the art style, and the level design! This is a great hack! Keep it up! :good:

 

What I'm thinking is maybe I could locate the PSG in JoenickROS's SMPS and change them to sound less...for a lack of a better word...bleepy.

Also, maybe I could make just one more update before the big Frantic Factory Zone release. Screenshots of places you find empty-ish would be highly appreciated.
