[W.I.P] Robotniks Last Stand (S1)

Good afternoon my fellow hackers! I am here to tell you about my upcoming hack "Robotniks Last Stand". Please note that any pictures/video you see here is not final! This is a heavy W.I.P hack!


Synopsis: "Robotniks Last Stand" is kind of going to be similar to "Robotniks Revenge", but I'm going to make it stand out from that hack in every way. My hack is a boss training program that pits you against all of the bosses from Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles to prepare you for an ultimate enemy! And while training, Sonic might just learn some new moves along the way.


Here are some early W.I.P photos of the level select! I know it's not much, but it will be awesome! Later I will actually code it so that when you press one of the buttons it will activate the giant ring.

It looks nice. Are you going to change the hubworld from anything other than GHZ though? Seems a bit odd to have a hubworld with just GHZ.

 

Thanks! I'm going to change the textures to a more digitized feel. Kinda like how some hacks did like a virtual reality feel to it. Just a heads-up, the first ring is for sonic 1 bosses, the second ring is for sonic 2 bosses, the third ring is for sonic3&K bosses, and the fourth ring is for the new bosses. Btw, I forgot to mention that MissArtiste90 (youtube name) is helping me with the music part, so check her out on youtube to show her some support! And I couldn't reply cause my computer was like "NOPE!" and wouldn't let me connect to the internet, but I fixed it xD

 

So, do the rings actually work? I am considering helping you in this endeavor, but I would like to know how much progress you've actually made. Also, what disassembly are you using? If I were you, I'd consider using the Retro SVN build. i personally don't like it, but it can help you with porting.

 

I'm using the Sonic 1 (Split_and_Text) disam. And I haven't made much progress (curse you Skyrim!)And what do you mean by porting? I'm trying to import the behavior of the Sonic 3&K giant rings over to Sonic 1 so they will stay up. Hard stuff

 

You don't need to import their behavior. Just change the ring requirements. You know what, I'll PM you about it.

 

Oh wow I'm so dumb xD I would have never thought about it like that! But I still need to make it so you can press a button to activate it.

 

I am announcing that SuperEgg will be the Master Coder for this hack! I couldn't have made any progress on this hack if it wasn't for him!

 

Yeah, it's official. I'm joining Team Arctiq for this project. Seems I have similar goals and ideas as Arctiq, not to mention it will get me back up and running as far hacking goes.

 

That's not really the team name, but I'm comin up with something xD

 

I have not seen his work, what can SuperEgg do?

Nah, that isn't truly what I can do. To be honest, my hacking skills are mediocre at best. They aren't horrible but I'm no MarkeyJester, but they are up to snuff enough for me to do this hack.


Speaking of hacking, here's a quick little progress report.


-I've got the rings to warp Sonic to said boss rooms.

I usally do asm stuff - I am always learning.

 

Well, I think I could test both placement-related and technical-related stuff, since I can complain about a pixel looking weird or being off. But that's completley up to you, sir, unless you think you can test on your own.

 

Hmm. What do you know how to do in ASM?

Well... the technical stuff. :V


That means stuff coded in ASM, be it hardcoded or not.

 

basics really... got the s3 shields in s1 and s2 and a few other bits and bobs - I have PM'd you.
