I guess I started ROMhacking because of two things: Sonic Megamix. I always thought that only SEGA can make Sonic games before I saw walktrough of Megamix, I was just mindblown when I saw it. And I thought: "Hey, if somebody can make their own Sonic game, then I can do that too!" Some old closed russian website about Sonic. I found it when I was searching for hacks to download. It got to "How-tos" section and found simple hacking guide which explained how to use ESE 2 and SonikSprite. Later I discovered disassemblies, but I didn't know how to work with SonMapEd and SonED 2. When I found a tutorial on how to use these programs my hacks got much better level design and art. Also, before I started using disassemblies, I discovered Sonic Hacking Studio by vladikcomper, and almost all my hacks was just unedited levels with spindash and jumpdash. Yea, I was stupid back in days.
