SSRG Terms & Rules
At the SSRG, we have rules and guidelines in place that are expected to be followed in order to maintain an effective and mature community that we try to have. By registering on here, you agree to follow these rules in place.
REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP
The SSRG uses a validation system based on trial posts which will determine whether or not you should be a full member. After registration and approval is complete, new members will be moved to the Trialist group, in which they have 20 posts to prove to the staff that they are capable members. Once these posts are up, the user will be moved to Limbo and the staff will discuss the case and decide whether to approve the user to Member or not. These posts should not be wasted by any means possible, and constantly making bad posts will seal your fate in Limbo.
Trusted users and good contributers could potentially find themselves being promoted to a Pro User at some point, but this is determined by the staff and not by any members.
DISPLAY/LOG-IN NAMES
Your display name MUST NOTcontain numbers tacked on at the end. And, another irksome quirk that's not allowed is the use of Sonic themed display names - *insert name* the *insert animal name* - or display names in which you name yourself after a character from the Sonic canon. Just because this is a Sonic based forum, doesn't mean we find these display names to be awesome works of wordplay. They ain't. Your log-in name can be whatever you want. Knock yourselves out with “awesome” log in names. All new accounts go through an approval queue monitored by the administrators and any new accounts found to be breaking the rules will not be approved and will be deleted.
AVATARS
NO fan character or re-coloured shit. Period! All avatars found to be infringing this rule will be removed without an official warning on the first instance. Repeat offenders will incur an official warning from the staff. Those who continue to ignore this rule will soon find themeselves unwelcome here. Un-official art based on the official characters of the Sonic franchise are perfectly fine.
POST CONTENT
As this is an English-speaking forum, only the English language may be used in your content. Posts should contain correct spelling and grammar, and should have a reasonable amount of words, which doesn't mean three-word posts or a single sentence, which can be counted as spam. Leeway can be given to people in which English is not their primary language, but lazy people who can only be bothered with “textspeak” might realise that this is not the place for them. Read this guide for more information on how to make reasonable posts.
ADULT CONTENT
Swearing is acceptable, posting offensive content is not. Pornographic content, shock images (such as Goatse) and generally not-safe-for-work stuff aren't wanted and will end up being removed if found. This isn't an image board, it's a message board with a focus on Sonic the Hedgehog (and we don't want to see hentai from there either).
BUMPING THREADS
There are times in which a member will post in a thread that is actually years old. This is frowned upon and members should refrain from doing this unless it is absolutely necessary. Keep away from threads more than one month old. Hack creators may bypass this for their own thread within reason.
LOCKED THREADS
Threads are automatically locked after 3 months of inactivity on the forums. But, those in the Member group and up have the ability to unlock their own threads, but the unlocking better be for a good reason. Any locked threads where an Administrator or Staff member has posted stating the thread is to remain locked, then locked it shall remain. DO NOT unlock it! Any member who does this, shall be warned.
RESPECT THE COMMUNITY
The SSRG Forums are in place for a reason, so people can contribute and discuss a variety of things with fellow members. Respect everyone reasonably, trolling and flaming is not permitted and will be trashed, but constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated. If you are using resources created by other people (such as a guide on how to implement the Spin Dash), you should credit them in your works. People who contribute to this community deserve recognition.
POLICY ON STOLEN CONTENT
Sometimes, there are users who post hacks, fan games and any other project with content that does not belong to them. This is a serious offence and will result in an instant ban. If you are suspicious of any content and believe that their work is actually somebody else's (such as content being directly ripped from another hack), please inform the staff using the Report button and it will be dealt with.
OBEY THE STAFF
A team of administrators and moderators are in place here to maintain the site and keep everything under control.. Ordinary members are not staff and as such, backseat modding is not tolerated in any circumstances. If there is a problem in a thread, use the Report button and the staff team will deal with it. All decisions made by the staff are final. If you don't like it, use the door and go find somewhere else.
WARNING SYSTEM
The SSRG currently uses a 10 Point warning system to deal with punishments that are handed down by the staff. The more points you get, the more danger you are in of getting banned. Please note that in serious cases, the point system can be skipped and bans be placed regardless.
REPUTATION SYSTEM
The SSRG uses the reputation system of IP Board as a means to allow members to give kudos to a post that they found to be helpful or insightful, and for members to vilify a post they feel was unhelpful or unwarranted. All members have the ability to view who increased/decreased the reputation of their posts. So don't go thinking you can target a specific member for "rep rape" and get away with it by thinking you have a cloak of anonymity to hide behind. Abuse of this system will not be tolerated, and any member who feels they are the victim of "rep bullying" or "arse licking" will have their claim investigated by the staff. Abusers will suffer the punishment decided by the staff member who deals with them.
ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS
These aren't allowed. No matter your user group. Trialists and those languishing in Limbo will find themselves being banned and their alternate account deleted. Members and Pro Users will have their alternate account(s) deleted and their account suspended for a period of up to 14 days, those that repeatedly create alternate accounts will be banned. Note: If an alternate account from a single IP is required due to another family member wishing to register, then the main account holder must contact an administrator requesting permission first.
BANNED? BANNED!
Users who end up being banned have a chance to plead their case and have their ban lifted in The Wastelands. Ban dodgers and serious offenders will be IP banned.
REMEMBER
You don't have a right to be on here. This is a privilege and we have the right to remove said privilege at any time due to not following the rules. This isn't a playground or a dumping ground for people being rejected from other sites, in fact we don't want to know if you didn't get approved at another website. It's your own fault at the end of the day. Follow these rules and guidelines and you'll get along well on here, or you'll end up being shown the door.
Thank you for reading.
Together we can make SSRG a pleasant, mature and fun community!
