Hey, are loops possible in the first SonEd? ... Just quickly askin' before moving on to the second, more important topic...

So, after hearing REPEATEDLY to switch to a disassembled ROM, guess what I did? I read an online tutorial (SonicRetro), and attempted at getting the program SonEd 2 to work with this concept. However, although I followed instructions exactly, no noticable result came about. Upon loading up a level in SonEd 2, there turned out to be absolutely no data. So, what am I doing wrong? I cannot get SonEd 2 to work with my ROM, and thus, am still using the original... ALTHOUGH it would be REALLY, REALLY NICE if I was able to work with a dis-assembled ROM. My creative mind is much greater than the 'original SonEd limits'...

Are you using Sonic 1? You shouldn't have any problems, unless it didn't split properly (I've had the same problems myself) Just make sure that after you run split.bat, new folders are created, and that these folders are filled with what they need. If it doesn't you did something wrong. In that case, you'll have to set up the split again, and make sure that nothing in the tutorial is skipped.

Also, in Sonic 1, in SonEd2 to get loops to work, place the loop chunk (chunk 35 I believe in GHZ) and then put your cursor over it and hit the space bar. The thing that says "chunk at cursor" will say B5 instead of 35. Now that loop will work. In Sonic 2, you'll have to place a path swapper, and I'm not really sure how they work. I believe on Retro there's a guide explaining them. I don't know about Sonic 1 loops in SonEd1 though. But I think it's the same though.

Pathswappers are easier than falling on a spike, and much more flexible and powerful than the Sonic 1 method. Make sure you pick up Thorns objdefs though. I'd give you a link but - well, I'm not your butler!
