Sonic 2 Title card problems !!!

    Hiya guys and girls, just wondering if anybody has any information about the titlecards in sonic 2 final? I am having a hard time editing them - to the point where i am just getting a glitchy mess... if i cant get them working i was thinking about disabling them like in s2 alpha or perhaps using the s1 title card object? any ideas or input?

    Well, what exactly happened? Does anything load? I mean, is it garbled up? Does the text load? A screen would be nice bud. Also, apparently the title cards in s2na and s2b are not disabled at all, but apparently there's an rts at where the art loads at. If you didn't notice, that is the reason why the screen stays black for a few seconds.

    I've finally got my Sonic 2 Final title cards sorted, but trust me, it is messy, and it does take a lot of experimenting. I was thinking of putting the Sonic 1 titel cards in but that made it worse. Just mess around with the mappings. It took me weeks to finally get it working.

    I have tried using the sonic 2 text tool but it only works on the newer dissasembelys and I dont like using them becasue they over complicated.

    Each level you have to specify what tiles to load from the alphabet, then use SonmapED to edit the mappings.


    Best way to map them out is to dump the VRAM (after you edit what letters are loaded) and load that into SonmapED. Remember, you only have to load each letter once.


    It's not too hard once you get it down.

    Ah, I thought you meant the whole of it such as the red, blue and yellow, I didn't know you meant the text only =P

    Have you tried using Esrael editor? It only hacks Binary ROMs, unfortunately, but you can edit the names of each zone. Probably. I don't really know because every time I edit a ROM using that program, I can't get past the title screen. But there definitely is an option to do it.

    You should stop living in the past. Good luck getting anywhere.

    As for editing Sonic 2's title cards, Selbi's editor works fine for the 2007 disassembly, I've had no issues using it in the past.

    Don't worry, I only used it once. But, being new to hacking, I'll try anything if it means that it will make it easier for me.
