I think this may have been posted before, maybe not the same idea, but anyway:

Would it be possible to put the Chaos Emeralds into a normal stage? So they can be hidden and when you touch them they dissapear like a ring and work like they do in the special stage? The same as in the SMS version of Sonic 1:

I would like to put the feature into Sonic 2, not Sonic 1.

I would need some help in the code (asm) also if it is possible.

Yes, of course it's possible. You can put what you want in a level but you have to know how to work with objects to create a new one with the emerald sprite and, of course, find free space in the vram to load the emerald object.

The info in the threath that MarkeyJester said have all the info you need. Although you want to work with Sonic 2, the basics are the same.

I read through that, and I'll give it a go. But would I need to change code, or just put it into the correct place in the sonic 2 asm?

It looks you have no idea of how to work with this. Try easiest things first and try to learn more about 68k asm.
