For the past 2 days i've been working on porting the StrikeDash from Sonic Chaos into Sonic 2. And I finally succeeded. Granted, the controls are different because I had to work around how they did it in SC, because I have no clue how to port the proper animations. (In Sonic 2, Chaos, and Triple Trouble the game checks to see what animations are playing at the current moment in time, then it checks the input, and finally branches to the proper routine.) In order to use the move, hold up and then press button 2. Another conflict was jumping, so I had to make a work around for that. I made a check to see if the up button was held under the jumping routine, and made it skip over that if it was. And like I said before, the animations aren't there, so it's still using the engine's animations so it looks sort of funky, but it does the trick. And like the strike dash, you're invulnerable while using it, though Sonic doesn't flash because in SC that's another animation. Enough chat, here's the download link:

    Enjoy!

Sorry if I sounds rude, but it hasn't a picture or a video of the thing in the post, right? Could you gently post some pictures or a footage with the thing in action? I can't download a ROM with a thing which I don't know what is.

It acts a bit weid but I assume its a WIP, right? BUG: If you do the dash while in a cart the camera locksin place.

Ahah, I remember this thing from Sonic Triple Trouble. It looks cool the way you did, but you could use the running animation instead. Are you planning on add some sound effect on it?

Yep yep, that's one of the things I forgot to code, adding a Sound effect. :V I'm going to change that animation, once I have the time. (I'm working another long shift tomorrow, so it'll probably be changed either after work tomorrow, or saturday before work since I work until midnight. x.x Darn holiday!) And i'll definitely edit the weird stuff in the minecart, infact he's not even supposed to use it while performing the move. :V Yet another thing I forgot to change. Once these bugs are fixed, i'll probably post it on Retro as well, but I dunno. :(

Sorry for the double post but, I fixed the Minecart glitch. :V Though I tried adding sound effects, but it broke my code. x.X Here's an updated version:http://www.mediafire.com/?49wijth05a90edc
