Why all the negative reception? I'm trying to show you awesome people whet a 13-year-old loser with time and Game Maker can do!

Can you please not Quadruple post?  You started this topic at 2:30am GMT, and it's now 9:40am.  Some people just haven't even had time to reply or even look.  Give people a chance.

Anyway, just because some people have looked and not replied, does not mean they dislike it.  They may of viewed this topic, downloaded your fangame, and have now gone away to try and play it.  Plus with Christmas and other life things, they may have not had the chance to come back to this topic with their verdict.

Anyway, about your fangame: It's too on-rails. Looking at the video, I could beat just by spinning all the way through. That's not what makes a good Sonic game. A good Sonic game is the marriage of high-speed platforming and flow. The art is also incredibly bland, and has no life at all. No offence, but Dimps makes better levels.


NOW, FOR THE REVIEW:


I just got done playing it, and I was right, you can hold "down" to win for the majority of the game. There is no personality to your game at all. It lacks music, interesting art, or even good set pieces. Also Joseff apparently is immune to the effects of gravity and the concept of momentum, as he can run across a large run-way upside down, and never slows down for anything except letting go of right. Also, why put Clement in your fanfiction? He makes no sence being there.


Final score: An outstanding -14/5 and 3/4

Probably because you were clearly showing you were being inpatient.

 

Review:

- Level art looks rushed.

- Boring levels, not challenging.

- I died by glitching through the floor when I got to the signpost.

- Signpost inside of loop?

- Physics don't make sense, I can run on the ceiling without falling for a long time.

- Fan character? Really? It's just a purple Sonic, like a lot of fan characters.

- Enemies don't move, making them a very easy target.

- Probably used MP3s/WAVs with Game Maker's default sound engine. If you want to use MP3s/WAVs, then download a DLL and put it into your game and load the sound files externally, then load them in a loading screen or something before the game, it will lower the game's file size dramatically.

As you read, I know the game is in its alpha stage, but you still need a lot of work to do. Improve the level art, fix the sound problem with the MP3s/WAVs, make it more challenging, fix things that don't make sense, fix the physics, place the signpost in a better place, make the levels interesting! What I'm saying here is fix the game. If you don't take this review very well, don't bother with the game. YOU release the game, YOU WILL get criticized. I'm just pointing out the flaws here so you know what is to be fixed, to make the game better. Also, don't use a fan character, unless it's actually good, which in this case is NOT (A good fan character is Pana by MarkeyJester). I'll suggest you just use Sonic, Tails Knuckles, or maybe even a character that doesn't get as much love (Big the Cat). You'll also need to have an original storyline, gameplay style (not too much, or it won;t exactly be a 'Sonic' game, you can keep the rolling, jumping, slopes loops, etc, just add new things!).

Probably too late for that. Anywho, I don't think anyone hates you. They probably don't like your attitude and responses to many things, but just because they don't like one project you put out, doesn't mean you're hated.

 

I guess this topic can be locked now. I actually thought about locking it before, but I didn't because I assumed it would have been faster for the user formerly known as JomasterII to reach his 20th post if we kept this open, and I was right :3
