Hello fellow a while I decided to make my own sonic fan game, Tube theme a bit abandoned until now that I've started. Look on the Internet and programs seems that a people use this Sonik Sprite.

I wanted my fan games by now was the same original game (Sonic the hedgehog 1,2,3) only playable character that was different. First I decided to use the brothers do with Sonic, Sonia and Manic, So I set to work and look Manic sprites. But when I import the program that lets you edit and white. Why? What do I do wrong?

I'll let pictures of how I do it and see what's going to fix it ASAP. Hope you can help health...

I also saw on the internet that you have to use a tool called hipeval or something ais downloaded the attempt to set the colors of Manik. But do not get it

(Si hablan alguno habla castellano y me lo explica asi mucho mejor)

I hope I help fix my mistake

No one uses Sonik Sprite anymore. People use disassemblies and SonMapED or RetroGraphicsToolkit when editin art, because they are much better and easier to edit than Hex editing (whether you're literally editing the hex or just using tools such as ESE II or Sonik Sprite). Sonik Sprite is an obsolete tool and it doesn't support palette editing, resizing, adding/removing sprites, or any form of compression. Go grab a Sonic disassembly, learn 68k Assembly, and get the proper tools (SonMapED, RetroGraphicsToolkit, SonED2).

With disassemblies and knowledge of 68k assembly, you can add new moves, zones, edit ALL art in the game, palettes, etc. compared to what you're trying to do and it won't break the ROM as easily. With what you're using, you're severely limited to what you can do.

To solve your problem, you need to edit the palette to the appropriate colors in order to import it correctly. This goes for all art editing tools, when importing a sprite, you make sure the palette is correct. When you import your sprite, the program has no idea what to do with the green, so it makes it transparent.

Your sprites seem to use the wrong shades of black, grey and red as well.

I have a question, are you making a fan game, or a hack? Your post says you're trying to make a fan game, but you're making it sound like you're making a hack.

As for your second question, I don't know of any such program. You could get someone who knows English and Spanish to translate it for you, or send the text though Google Translate and ask one of us to help you correct it (I'd personally, be willing to help).

You can't post one word responses, Emilio.  Head here to see the rules of this place.

If you would have carefully read the rules as well, Dwhite, you would know that Backseat Modding isn't allowed. :)

(And yes, I know, I'm technically breaking that rule right now, I just wanted to point it out.)

He thanked someone. I don't see that as an issue. It's posting just to go "cool', "awesome", etc. is what we take an issue with.

Man, I miss Sonik Sprite. Being able to edit and save right away without worrying about importing or exporting was fun. :(

    What.

Just don't use it. Look around for newer tools. I'd say SonMapEd but that's probably outdated too. I'm sure there's something newer around

SonMapEd, at the moment, is the tool I use all of the time. I highly recommend it.

Well just to answer the original question of this topic, Sonik Sprite needs the image to use the same colors as the ROM. So you would need to edit the palette in the ROM to match the image you're going to use. (or the other way around)

Though like everyone says, Sonik Sprite is very outdated and limited in what it can do. It's best to use newer programs (SonMapEd) and disassemblies.

Well, I actually use Sonik Sprite. I use it on a clean Sonic rom, and when I'm done, I transfer the new graphics I used Sonik Sprite to make into my disassembly.
