Sonic : Extended Remix

    After canceling my hack, i decided to create a new one. It wont be similiar to the "sonic 4" i was making, it will be even better.


    Features (that i got now):


    Jumpdash (I will make it home on enemies soon)


    SCD spindash (just the spindash with the rolling animation and a greater speed)


    peel-out (yeah)


    Features that i am willing to add:


    Act/Level/Game transitions (a game transition: this is a special feature in this hack, it will show you how sonic 1 links to sonic 2)


    SRAM


    Some new cutscenes (something like, sonic catches eggman at the end of FZ and they are going to ghz's ending)


    Some sonic 2 sprites (the hanging sprites and looking up/down)


    extra characters


    semi-super sonic (there will be a doomsday zone for sonic 1 but not in space. and you need at least 4 emeralds and 25 to be semi-super, and he flashes blue instead of yellow)


    True final boss (doomsday boss as seen above, not in space)


    Air-spindash (spindashing in the air, only for S-SS)


    Ring-Dash (click B next to the rings to do the ring dash of course it will be hard to code that)


    Sonic 3 style data select (choose characters/levels/mission mode)


    mission mode (just like in sonic adventure)


    ranking system (not sure if i do that)


    The true level order is going to be used


    And last (but not least) a game intro (shows sonic and dr. kintobor at hes lab and an explosion)


    no new layouts are going to be made, sorry.

    You should really set yourself smaller goals, and if you do those along the way, that's great. But seriously, if you say you're going to be able to do ALL those things that some/most would be hard to code anyway, and then end up not being able to, it'll lead to disappointment for the people who anticipated it, embarassment for you, and of course, fail get *shot*


    Concept sounds good, but your goals are set pretty high, especially for the start of the project.

    I agree, those seem like unrealistic goals. You're better off not posting about them until you know you can actually do them, otherwise you'll become obsessed with the idea of hack rather than actually working on the hack itself.

    Well, in my canceled hack, i earned good asm skills. I am now coding the level transitions (they aren't hard) here is a picture of what i got now:

    I was trying to remove the end-title cards from the end of act 3 along with unfreezing sonic and unlocking the controls. The level transitions can be handled by the DSR/DLE routine. Also, what does DLE stands for?

    I can't even figure out stuff like that, and why can't I PM you? It says you're not an existing member. But how did you remove the ring bonus and part of the title card? I am doing something similar for my S1 hack. What exactly did you do to remove the ring bonus? What routine controls that? Or did you just edit the mappings?

    Dynamic Level Events. It's a more accurate name than DSR (Dynamic Screen Resizing), since not all DLEs perform resizing.

    Edit: ok after a while of thinking (a small while =P) i decided to restart the hack because the idea is kinda retarded (and im never going to add the homing attack because its hard =P) so instead, im going to rename it to:


    Sonic 1: Advanced Edition.


    I chose that name because ive always wanted to recreate a genesis sonic game in advance style so, im starting with sonic 1 to look like sonic advance 3, then sonic 2 to look like sonic advance 2 (kinda wierd because sonic 1 needs to be advance 1, but i hate that game) of course you will get the chaos emeralds in an easier way (collecting 10 chao is hard so you will need to collect the key somewhere in the level, and the special stage will be a new thing) so, i didn't really restart it but i am going to, the first thing i am doing is porting s3k sprites, and using palswap to swap the palettes then i can really restart the hack.

    I look foward to see what you can really do. With all these features coming soon I'm hoping you can do it and stick with this hack.

    Because the HUB is hard to code without having SRAM (i dreamt i added SRAM but i forgot how =P) i decided to restart my hack again. Yes.


    But its for good. Now instead of just using ideas from different games (a.k.a sonic advance 3 hack) i will use my own idea i made. It includes tails, knux and the chaos emeralds as your enemies. So the chaos demons, looks just like sonic, except they are a different colour/sprite. And they will be the bosses of each zone, you will have to destroy them and collect their powers into the chaos emeralds, (note that you will have to kill all of the badniks to get the powerless chaos emerald, the demons has the powers) and same as the master emerald, knuckles has to kill all of the badniks in each zone to get emerald pieces, and fight ashura each zone as a boss (while sonic and tails fight both ashura and the chaos demons) untill sonic will completely destroy ashura, and you knuckles will collect the power of the master emerald, into the powerless emerald.


    Here is a list of chaos emeralds and their bosses:


    Light Blue chaos emerald: Ice sonic


    Purple Chaos Emerald: Poisen sonic


    Red chaos emerald: RedHotSonic *runs*


    Green chaos emerald: zonik


    Pink Chaos emerald: Pink sonic with tits


    White chaos emerald: Ghost sonic (a.k.a KKK sonic)


    Yellow chaos emerald: electric sonic


    Master Emerald: Ashura


    Zonik, is like ashura. Ashura is like super zonik. Ashura is bad while zonik is good. So sonic wont have to destroy zonik, instead he will just fight him untill ashura comes.


    Here is a list of bosses:


    The first boss (ashura): chases you when he is flying, and he shoots fireballs. (now i am having a small problem because ashura is green and sonic doesn't have green in hes palette, i'll have to recolor everything instead of sonic.)


    The second boss (the fire sonic): attacks you like mecha sonic, and when he jumpdashes, he will shoot fireballs.


    The third boss (posien sonic): chases you when he is running and when he spins/jumps, he will shoot posien stings on you that will take your rings slowly (but you still can jump, you have to be hurt to remove that sting)


    The fourth boss (electric sonic): You will fight him in a desert, similiar to sandpolis zone, you will have to go inside a temple and fight him, he will shoot rings that cannot be collected but they will hurt you instead.


    The fifth boss (Girl side of sonic): thats the girl side of sonic, acts like amy except she doesn't have a hammer, shoots hearts on you. you fight her in the casino zone, (tails will carry you from sandpolis to here)


    The sixth boss (zonik): zonik is good. sonic will think he is ashura untill ashura will come and destroy the forest.


    The seventh boss (ghost sonic): ghost sonic will be fought in the ruined forest.


    The final boss (ashura again): you will fight him in the ruined sunset hill (called evening hill) along with zonik, and tails.


    The Doomsday boss (super ashura) after collecting 6 emeralds, you cant transform into super, but semi super is possible, zonik and you will use the chaos emeralds (and zonik because hes an emerald too) you will use 4 emeralds and zonik will use 3, he will be semi - super zonik. you will need to chase ashura in space and air-spindash him.


    zonik will need to do a jumpdash in the air.


    Sounds hard to code? When i will at least have knuckles in there, i will release a demo of Sunset Hill and Lava Mountain. the second zone will kill you at the level transition so you cant complete it =P.

    You are doing to much settle down, I was already getting into your hack and started following it. This can be good without all of these extras sonics and etc...


    You can wait on the story, you don't have to explain things unless you are done or somewhat close. The extra sonics should should be taken out, most doesn't make any sense and it looks like you are rushing. Again slow down, First just get your basic characters down: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Next edit your levels, layouts, colors etc... As I was reading, you added levels from other games. Edit the bosses and whatever, then you can do the exra stuff.


    This hack can be good and could be better than Sonic 1 remastered and Advance Edit. I play those all the time. Also the palette for the background, you got brown clouds and I can see your using the Mario Kart Maple Treeway palette. Alot of hacks I seen had that and I even used that when I was hacking. You can use it but, try something fresh.


    I want to try and assist you in this. It has alot of potential and don't be like me or anyone else and can't finish the hack. But I wanna say for right now don't do this story and these extra Sonic stuff.

    You are right. I started to recolour sonic's s3k sprites to use sonic 1's palette so i dont have green in my palette to add ashura and zonik. Also, im trying to make that palette look like sunset hill, not maple treeway >.>


    And yes, i do think this hack can be better than advanced edit and remastered. When i first tried to make a sonic 4, i used a nooby idea of sonic in sunset hill, and all s3k 2p levels. Then my idea got worse. Then i used my old idea and i see its the best (my old idea was the sunset hill and all, not ashura) so im going to fix knuckles' gliding (surprise! i ported knuckles with hes buggy gliding) and port flying for tails from s3k.


    Then, im going to work on ghz's layout and palette a little more, on the art for the grass and trees, and finally on the boss and level transition. Then the true first release will be ready.

    Yeah i did. I have edited the ghz's pitch and tempo and it sounds cute just like sunset hill. But i have to edit the tempo to 05 and not to 00 because then it will slow down when taking speed shoes.


    I think i will use some boss ideas from my cancelled sonic 4 hack.

    Ok i have to tell you this, i am going to leave the hacking for a while because my marks are low. I have to learn more to success at school so, you wont hear anything from me for maybe a month or 2 but dont worry i will continue updating my hack as soon as i will finish the first half of school.


    The only update i can tell you about is, i have knuckles but hes palette is bad and the gliding fucks hes collisions up so he falls through the floor instead of landing.

    Could you please tone down the red in the background or change it to something more appealing to the eyes, I'm not sure how some people can stand to look at such a bright color for so long.


    Regarding the sprite, some more shades of pink would do the Amy sprites some justice. And if I see through all that red correctly, there's a bit of pink in front of Amy's face, indicating that you might have overlooked something while importing the sprite.

    Yeah i have to re-import the sprites. I am saving them with MS paint so i have to make more "space" in front of amy's face, so there will be no pink. As soon as i finish amy, fix knuckles' gliding, fix the palettes and complete the layout for ghz, i will release a beta.
