I am trying to use sonic 3 art and collision to make a new level in soned2 but all it does is load garbled art and only has 14 chunks. The palette loads just fine.

Why is the art messed up and why are there not as many chunks as there should be?

Is there some way to fix this?

It is being ported to sonic 2

blocks and chunks: you will need to do it manually

You just need to fix blocks and chunks.

I'm sorry, but there is no tools to fix it for you.

Is there a way of creating an Options Menu in sonic 1?

like the Level Select screen, but for options.

    Is that possible?

I'm asking for an Options Menu, using the Level Select code.

on the Title Screen, I want:

    Start

Options <- What will load the Options Menu.

    Options menu:

    Options

    Unused

    Unused

    Unused

    Sound Test - 00

and an "how to use the 'Unused' options"

I said "no" in the first topic you made. Do it again and you can say goodbye.

I see nothing wrong with him asking that question here, while it shows that he's not too intent on learning, that is for other individuals to decide whether they help him or not as they have a choice to ignore the question and move on.

    Moved back.

Any idea how I would go about changing Sonic's starting position on Sonic Ed 2?

I know how to do it using Eseral but was wondering how to do it on the above program.

    thanks

SonEd2 can't do this, I haven't checked out the latest version though.

But this can be pretty easy done manually, here is a wonderful tutorial about it: http://sonicresearch.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1999

thanks but i suck at hex editing. it's weird that SonicEdit2 being the better program doesn't allow this.

Sorry if this has been answered before, I searched around and found nothing.

I set up a level in SonED2, even compiled it a couple times no problem. But now when I compile it this happens:

The only tile that shows up is trees, but the collision is unaffected.

Then, did you set the level chunks too much below Sonic's starting position?

Is there anything else in-game on plane A, or only that chunk with the top of two palm trees ?

Only that chunk, but spread out across the whole level in random locations.

I remember this problem, but I don't really remember how to fix it.

I think this happens when you have too many objects in the level, or maybe too many rings.....I'm not sure since it's been so long.

Easiest thing to do. Just open the ROM in a hex editor, and edit the ASCII text at the beginning of the ROM.

^ And to change the name of a SMS game, all you have to do is name the ROM whatever you want. The actual header the SMS looks for can't be altered because if it has been changed, it'll never boot! It's special ASCII text, and it's not the name of the game anyways. Just throwing that out there just in case someone gets stuck with that problem. :V
