Thank you for liking my title screen, and thanks for the criticism. I asked my team to help me to make a better "SONIC" text and here's the result. I hope that now it's good enough

I got the first picture from your signiture as that's my guess on what we're comparing here. If that's the case, the 2nd one is miles better.

 

The problem I have is that the new screenshot seems to have a filter applied to it, so it's difficult to compare it to the older image. This is most evident on the clouds and the plane The text looks a bit better, but it's hard to tell. The extra shading works well, though. It's one of the things it was missing.

Also, the D in Scorched needs to be a bit more rounded. The O and U are curved properly, but the D looks rather straight in comparison.

Yeah, that's much better. It was a small thing, but I thought it could be improved. You can compare it directly with your signature, and see the difference. You should probably update that signature of yours, by the way, to reflect the new changes.

 

I liked "Burned Edition" more than "Scorched Quest"

"Quest" makes it sound kinda gay, and conjures up images of elves, pixies, dragons and wizards.

Yeah but edition at the end of a name is really overused, the new name is a lot more original. Also not sure why you think the name is gay. If its not an insult then never mind.

 

Sometimes I wonder if people will ever learn that "gay" is not a word that can be used as an insult. Seriously.

Also, here's something that'll explodonate everyone's minds: I have a new project that I will most likely not abandon.

The sprites are directly ported from another game. No, it's not a character hack, despite the existence of DPLCs implying otherwise. The main reason I need to use DPLCs is because if I were to use Nemesis-compressed art, this bad boy would easily hog up the entirety of the VRAM, and that's being generous.

So yeah, I'm actually working on stuff again. :v

It's Specter Knight from the game Shovel Knight, and yes, he'll be a boss (in the event anyone can actually get him and his stage to work properly; his stage has been being a huge bitch to work with every since I put it in the game).

Yes, Edition is overused, but Quest does denote a fantasy element.

I don't know when, and I don't mean if, humanity will stop acting like gay is bad. Proof? Three words: Neil. Patrick. Harris.

And I am totally in love with the idea of some form of Shovel Knight crossover, though a steampunk-themed revamp of Sonic 1 (and possibly 2 and 3K) seems more doable (the aesthetic alone would be worth it). But then again they managed to port Lilac from the incredibly awesome Freedom Planet into Sonic 1 so I assume it's safe to start believing in miracles.

Then keep believing, because I intend to eventually have it be a full Shovel Knight crossover. Not only will Specter Knight be in it, there'll be several other characters from the game (and, assuming ROM space and my ability to do anything allows, a few brand-new ones as well).

First, though, I have to actually get the base game to work. As it stands, Specter's Knight's stage is hilariously broken beyond any repair I can think of. As such, it might be a while before you guys actually get to see Specter in action. :v

 

At the beginning of this year I decided to move onto creating a Sonic 2 hack, in the past I've mainly hacked Sonic 1, for Sonic 2 and S3&K I either did small level layouts for certain levels or pallete edits while with Sonic 1 I attempted to create full game hacks. In a way I am kind of tired of hacking Sonic 1, I am not cancelling Chaos Control but if I do return to it I will be using a fresh disassembly instead of continuing to use S1 Hacking Studio.

Anyway here is a video showing off what I have so far:




New Palletes (up until Mystic Cave)
Small level edit in Emerald Hill Act 1 (I will be doing the other levels soon)
New names for the levels
Sonic has an Air Dash (Credit to Vladikcomper for his Jump Dash guide)
Knuckles has been ported to the game (Credit to MainMemory for his guide on porting Knux into the game)
You can now roll jump and maintain air control (like Sonic CD)
