General Screenshot/Movie Thread

Cursed Casino Zone is now Manor Mansion Zone. Name is a bit redundant, but I like my levels to have alliterative names. Also WIP art edit.

 

Ohohohoh... I like that art edit, but I think you should remove those blue lines on the blocks, of course, while it may still be a WIP, I'd suggest you to change the BG.
Also, don't "Manor" and "Mansion" kind of mean the same thing?

 

For some reason, my artwork never leaves me satisfied in it.
My GHZ was remade countless times since 2013, and i hope this one will be the last.

This is really nice looking and detailed. I have three pieces of criticism. One is that I don't like that tree in front. It blends in too much with the ground and grass. Unless it moves independently, I would reccomend getting rid of it. I also don't like the Botanic Base bush being behind the piece of ground sticking out. It looks like it should right next to the piece of ground yet it seems to go behind it, You can fix this by ending the bush where it meets with the piece of ground. Third is that I feel that the yellow sticks out too much. It's fine of you use it to add detail but you shouldn't have a large amount of it in one space. I recommend either changing the color or filling in where the yellow is with a shade of green.

 

What yellow? As for bushes, i will fix it i think.

I will try to make that palmtree move independently too.

 

I can't help but feel that the Sonic sprite doesn't match the environment he's in. Otherwise, looks awesome!

 

The very faint yellow that's used on the grass and trees. I assume you're also using it as a shade of brown, also since the only reason a shade should be so radically different is to also use it as a shade of a different color.

 

Oh, you're right. I accidentally tinted the white color yellow. It's fixed now.

 

White just makes that problem even worse. I really don't like that much white together unless the art is of something that's supposed to be white. Why can't you just sacrafise some of the detail in order to make that green or do something to allow another shade of green into your palette?

 

But I like shining grass :C

I will try, but i'm not sure i will like the result. I've never liked making sacrifices, the thing I cropped to do another one will always bug me.

 

I can't believe that this is an sonic 1 hack. It looks like an official game (or like something Vladikcomper or MarkeyJester has done). nice job! Do you have an name for the hack already? When not, i think "Sonic Unlimited" would fit it. But please, don't create an mess like me and give it an awesome name. Since i think you don't know, i had an hack called Sonic Unlimited, but well - It was an ESE hack. And an shitty one. So please, revive that name xD

 

I already told you on Skype, but I'm going to tell you here again in public. This definitely looks gorgeous, and incredibly detailed. My question is, have you done slopes for it already, or is that something to do?

The checkerboard pattern reminds me of Sonic Advance, by the way. I like that. As for the grass, I think it's fine as it is - no need to change colours. Though you know, we all have different mindsets and opinions so there will always be someone for anything.

 

I belive I said that, but sles are definetly in, just not in this screenshot.

On days like these, i want to hack Sonic 1, but how without PC xD

 

Very...very well done, I love what you have here the detail is spot on IMO. Way better than anything I can do, you've improved!.

Edit: Trees look a bit on the small side, and the tree that looks like its on the same plane as Sonic seems off putting to me. Unless Sonic can actually bump into the tree it should be on the top bit of the grass not in the center.

I have plans for falling snow too, but as most of what I've shown here is a placeholder, it's gonna take a long time, to change the art, ask somebody for the falling snow thingy, find fitting music...

 

Very nice, really liking that palette. It actually feels fresh compared to the usual snow edits in Marble Zone. Great work, looking forward to seeing what else you do with it.

 

I really hope this comes to a Hacking Contest some day....looks really promising.

Can't do it a year earlier? Plenty of time before next October...
