I'm a bit two years late on this, but here you go:

It may not be the best comparison out there, but hey, at least it works.

Also, this is my 100th post overall. Took me four years to reach this!

Here's a funny thing I noticed while doing some audio recording tests for someone. I dunno if this applies to any other setup, but with my Sega Genesis USA NTSC VA3 and model 2 USA Sega CD, if I route the audio to be output from the MCD instead of the MD's AV out or headphone jack, then the audio's polarity will be inverted!

And yes, I did make sure that the MD's AV out and headphone jack output the same polarity, just to rule it out.

Okay, so this is interesting. So, audio coming out of a model 1 MCD (thanks Chibisteven for the recording) is the same as if you output through a model 1 MD. But, output from a model 2 MCD or its audio going through a model 2 MD results in an inverted polarity.

I also tested the polarity between a model 1 and 2 MD for non-MCD audio, and the polarity is the same.

And then, I did some further testing, and here's what I found from my end:

MD1 AV Out: FM normal, CD normal
MD1 Headphone Out: FM normal, CD normal
MD1 -> MCD2 Out: FM inverted, CD inverted
MD2 Out: FM normal, CD inverted
MD2 -> MCD2 Out: FM normal, CD inverted

Unfortunately, I don't have a model 1 MCD of my own to test even further, but judging from the one test from Chibisteven, MCD1 out doesn't perform any inversion, at least on the CD audio.
