    Before turning myself into a Prospect, I wanted to show my romhack so i can improve it while the staff decides if letting me in again or not

    A lovely YouTube user, under a video related to Sonic 2 - Score Rush, was wondering if there was a way to play Sonic 2 with just the moveset changes. Indeed, such a way was there.

    ...or so I thought, because turns out I didn't finish porting over some things from Sonic 2 - Score Rush to Vanilla Sonic 2.

    So I did exactly that!

    The attached ROM hack is a straight build of Sonic 2 with Knuckles, the very disassembly that was used in the creation of Sonic 2 - Score Rush. This build offers you the default moveset options from Sonic 2 - Score Rush. There's no way to change those in game, as I could not be bothered to implement an options screen specifically for this mini hack.

    For 2 player versus, only options that would normally affect all characters are made available, so Sonic and Tails do not get air moves.

    The moveset is as follows:
    • No air speed cap;
    • No rolling jump lock, meaning you keep control if you jump after rolling;
    • Slow ducking from Sonic & Knuckles is in place;
    • Sonic gets the Super Peel-Out, the Drop Dash, and the Insta-Shield in 1P mode;
    • Tails gets the Flight in 1P mode;
    • Tails gets flight cancel in 1P mode. Only a human can cancel Tails' flight, and it can not be cancelled while holding Sonic;
    • Bullet deflection from Sonic 3 is in place
    Additional features not normally accessible in Sonic 2 - Score Rush include:
    • Tails Assist, from the 2013 version of Sonic 1.
    • Virtual controller swap: if both players press A while the game is paused, they will swap controllers virtually. Useful for netplay users!
    • Modified Super Transformation method: to transform, you'll have to press a different jump button from the one you used to jump. Same as Sonic 3 Complete's method!
    • Player-dependent pausing: If player 1 pauses, only player 1 can unpause. Same goes for Player 2.

    I appreciate the creativity and some of the ideas in this hack, but everything is quite rough and unpolished, and there are a multitude of questionable decisions everywhere, like the easy to hit bottomless pits in the first act, or the Special Stages not remembering your position, chronically problematic enemy placement, broken bubble graphics, Eggman Monitors with new unrecognizable art, among other issues. It almost seems like you didn't play test it, as there are bugs, collision issues, and sound errors galore. Some of the music tracks are unlistenable, and even the "SEGA" chant sounds busted for some reason. If you are going to use premade assets, it's even more important to complement them with polished design, because at the moment they make the issues stand out even more.

    This is an interesting start, but I definitely suggest that you spend much more time testing things out, and maybe invite someone you trust to test it for you as well, to get an outside opinion.

    Thanks for the opinions, I already fixed this and addded some little things

    The following credits are new or I forgot to put them.

    LordXermon for the Level Select , MFZ Cutscene and Final Battle Zone music
    Cinossu for the Special Stages song

    Also, Amy's here (with a moveset similar to Sonic 1 Forever) and her sprites are the ones made by CartoonAnimate22 slightly modified.

    Edit: Fixed an oversight with MZ's level gfx

    Known Errors:
    1. The start option is broken in the options menu
    2. Enter any water stage and the game will crash (Really need help with this)

    dont know if this hack is gonna turn into anything due to it being made from pure boredom but here

    WARNING: Gunstar Heroes music port isn't perfect, one instrument might be grating
    also the Visuals kinda mess up at some points, have no clue why it does that, might be just smth with Kega's Video Codec

    Yeah, those visual glitches stem from YouTube not liking Kega's codec. You'd need to get it converted into another codec (and also upscale it, since YouTube these days does not treat smaller res videos very kindly).

    i proceeded to not take devon's advice

    but i ported over the explosions from ERaZor's source code bc it was cool
    there are no weird graphical tears in the video to my knowledge

    So, Its been a while since the last time I posted here. So let's do this one more time.
    Sonic Unreal World Version 1.4
    The last 2 versions (which I call 1.0 and 1.2) are not pretty... Good. So, for change so, I took my time with this update.
    Changelog
    • New BG for the menus
    • Fixed dropdash
    • 1 New song for Hydro Palace Act 2, courtesy of JX on youtube
    • Fixed most of the errors, so the game can be played from A to Z
    • Partially updated art for the main characters
    • Partially improved Giant ring entrance
    To do:
    • include more jx songs
    • Make you respawn in the giant ring's position
    You already know, if you found any bug, report it and i'll fix it next time

    things i noted
    pros:
    like the new sprites for sonic and most of the other assets excluding stage assets which are currently unchanged
    also liking the two new badniks

    cons:
    some of the songs have a rather ear piercing beep
    a couple of serious graphical glitches
    some levels are notably unfinished
    a couple of BS moments
    other bugs i may have forgotten a little

    suggestions:
    fix the remaining bugs (bc it sounds like you've bugfixed your hack before) and improve the level design a little bit

    overall this hack seems like it HAS potential but it hasn't been fully unlocked yet. keep workin' at it

    Hey there guys, I am back to show of 2 more over 9000 hacks I have made: Sonic 1 Proto Over 9000 and Sonic 2 Simon Wai proto over 9000!
    Here are some known bugs:
    (in the s2 simon wai over 9000) you have to hit the speed shoes monitor to get the over 9000 speed... Unless you want to play with the original speed (in that case you should just get the original rom)
    (in the s1 proto over 9000) Sonic doesn't properly go through S tubes

    Here's an unfinished hack I was working on called the Spring Yard Zone challenges, which is just level edits with new additions to Sonic 1's gameplay to make it more fun. Only acts 1 and 2 are edited and I decided to put a pause on this because of my other project, Sonic 1 Competitive.

    Its been a while, but Im finally back
    Sonic Unreal Worlds V1.6 Changelog
    • Theres new transition to the special stages, much smoother
    • Now both Sonic & Amy appears at the title screen
    • Many bugfixes, specially with the sound driver
    • Speed boosters at GHZ and SYZ
    • Super Peelout for Sonic
    • New Music for some levels
    • New BG for LZ
    • Many other things that I might forgot
    Well, time for the plot:
    Sonic, after beating Eggman at Metallic Madness, decides to come back to South Island. But Amy Rose wanted to go with him, Sonic said she could accompany him, but with the condition of avoiding getting kidnapped again.
    When they arrived, Eggman was there, with the Phantom Ruby, which he discovered earlier. He tried to use it and he created a reality where he has more posibilities of win, and conquer the world. Sonic And Amy must stop Eggman.
