A general rule of thumb is to credit those who helped you out in your project within your post. Please edit your post to credit the right people and the things they've done to help you out.

So, here's a mini side-project I've been working on in the meantime of my other big project (Sonic 1 Competitive), but be wary, this hack is EXTREMLY early in development, so lots of bugs are to be expected. Anyways, this adds Captain Oliver from the Pikmin series into the game. This also (will soon) add the mechanics of the Pikmin game, where you can instruct Pikmin you collect around the stages (this time in monitors, couldn't be bothered to make a separate object and routine for it as of now).

This hack is so unfinished, that the Pikmin don't pop up, and you can't task them to do anything, but it's a nice proof of concept that has potential to become something bigger. Credits to "Pik" on the Spriters Resource for providing the Captain Oliver sprites (the Pikmin renders are just the official ones scaled down and suited to fit with MD palette limits), and credits to Xenowhirl for the inspiration of the project (Yoshi in Sonic 2). Have fun... I guess.

You should also give feedback, I'd love to hear what you want me to do with this.

Edit: forgot to include controls and the fact that if you get hit once, you instantly die.
    • Up + ABC: Release Pikmin
    • Down + ABC: Call Pikmin to You (buggy)

I don't know if I should say that I was left soft-locked in the miserable first act.

somehow the controls don't unlock after finishing the act

Welp, I found another cancelled project I was working on, which did contain the splash screen I recently ported over from this hack to Sonic 1 Competitive. This was going to be a tool that let you create "movies" and then play them back, but I guess I couldn't figure out how to save the movies and load them from SRAM as demos looking through the sonic1.asm file, but it's whatever. It also looks like I was planning this for SHC 2025, whatever. I have something else planned for that. This is VERY unfinished if you couldn't tell already, very early stages, and I don't plan on finishing it.

    Controls:
    - Start to Pause
    - A to cycle through objects
    - C to place object

    While paused:
    - A to Reset to Title Screen
    - B / C to "record" your movie

From there, while recording, it's just normal Sonic 1 controls, besides the pause shortcuts, which will take you out of recording mode.

Quick Edit: you will see a warning about requiring a mouse at the start of the game, mouse input reading is there, but none of the inputs from the Port 2 (where the mouse should be plugged into) do anything

While I'm working on my main ROM Hack, I took a few days to make this hack; Kasane Pearto in Sonic 1!
Kasane Pearto controls just like Sonic but with two extra moves:

    • SpinDash: Sonic 2
    • Air Roll: Sonic Triple Trouble

    Credits:
PumpkinMasterz - Programming & additional art
Xperion013 - Main sprite artist; player sprites, Title Screen Pearto sprite & ending screen sprite
ElissaHazelnut08 - Inspired me to make this hack in the first place

Devy - Created the Title Screen Font used in the "PEARTO" text on the Title Screen
Ranchonnaise - The original creator of the "Kasane Pearto"
Sonic Retro - Speed Cap Guide, SpinDash in Sonic 1 (Part 1) Guide
