    Hello everyone:D
    Today I wanted to present you my first sonic hack ever!
    After several problems and tests, I have the honor to present my project,that is:

    SEM2.1.PNG
    Description:
    For this ROM I was inspired by a mod of Crash Bandicoot 2:"Cortex Forgots Back".
    Sonic Eggman Monitor (SEM) is a more difficult version of sonic 1,but not at the levels of a kaizo.

    Tools used:
    -SonicLVL(level and special stage editing ): http://info.sonicretro.org/SonLVL
    -SonPLN(title screen editing):http://sonicresearch.org/community/index.php?threads/sonpln.5734/
    -Sonic 1 GitHub disassembly: https://github.com/sonicretro/s1disasm
    -Sonic 1 Text Code Generator(text editor): http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_1_-_Text_Code_Generator

    Credits:
    -Tanman Tanner & TheInvisibleSun(for making me understand how to increase lives): http://sonicresearch.org/community/...ic-questions-and-answers-thread.1155/page-290
    -Inferno,MarkeyJester & ProjectFM(for making me understand how to chenge the order of the levels): http://sonicresearch.org/community/...ic-questions-and-answers-thread.1155/page-291
    -Death rapunzel(infinite lives):http://sonicresearch.org/community/...ic-questions-and-answers-thread.1155/page-292
    -bustdownyami(for making me understand how to edit the title screen):http://sonicresearch.org/community/...ic-questions-and-answers-thread.1155/page-299
    -Nineko & AlexShx (for the code to make Eggman monitor work):https://info.sonicretro.org/SCHG_How-to:Have_a_functional_Eggman_monitor_in_Sonic_1

    Changes:
    -There are no rings, this means that if you take a hit you die;
    -All monitors have been replaced with Eggman's;
    -Some small changes in the level design;
    -The order of the levels has been changed;
    - Labyrinth Zone is a bonus level playable only by activating the level selct.

    Changes V2:
    -Others changes in the level design;
    -Inifinite lives;
    -Added the shield monitors;
    -Labyrinth Zone is now included in the game;
    -Added the special monitor.

    Changes V2.1:
    -Added the new title screen.

    Changes SIM version:
    -Replaces all eggman monitors with invincibility monitors.

    It is more of a generic Kazio hack. There isn't anything I can say besides being a hack which adds one feature, the Eggman monitor. I personally don't find it fun to see Kazio hacks as it is meant for the hardcores. I see it has some puropse to other hard hacks but you can do better rather than placing Eggman monitors everywhere expecting it to be difficult to play.

    I believe it's spelled 'Kaizo".

    Either way, it seems like more of a mini-hack, but it's a neat small 'first' project nonetheless. One immediate criticism I have though, is the fact that you've released three different roms for something that can quite easily be done in one. Perhaps that is your next step for this project? You could learn a lot in the process of doing so (you could learn more about using variables, creating menus, etc.) and it would make the presentation a whole lot smoother in general.

    I do agree that there could be features you could add, if you want to make this into a fuller project. I know you mentioned it isn't a typical 'kaizo' hack, but one thing that makes those games addictive is that they don't use lives in the first place; some of them just send you back to the start of the level or a checkpoint infinitely, and seamlessly. Maybe you can meet it half way and implement said feature, but with lives?

    Hi, thanks for the feedback.
    For the characteristics I wanted to leave only this because in "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Forgots Back the main feature" is that there are a lot of nitro, a concept never seen in a sonic 1 hack.
    Originally this rom hack had to have only one version with 0 lives, Extreme mode is the concept of this.
    During the development I thought it would be too frustrating to play and for this I had thought of adding infinite lives, but due to my poor skills I was unable to insert this feature (for this I created the normal mode).

    One last thing, for mini-hacks I thought it meant projects not completed or with few zones.
    If the administrators think this needs to be moved, I will move it to Random hacks/Mini project thread.

    NEW UPDATE: SEM VERSION 2.0
    After a long time and many problems, here is the new version of Sonic Eggman Monitor!

    Changes V2:
    -Others changes in the level design;
    -Inifinite lives;
    -Added the shield monitors;
    -Labyrinth Zone is now included in the game;
    -Most important of all, added the special monitor!

    SPECIAL MONITOR:
    They are monitors that allow you to access at special stages.
    Warning: if you hit them and die, the big ring will not appear.
    Monitors are present in the first two acts of each zone (except in Labyrinth Zone and Scrap Brain Zone).

    I also wanted to thank those who dedicated a video to this hack:D:

    ROMs+OLD VERSIONS:
    Normal=99 lives
    Original=3 lives
    Extreme=1 lives

    NEW UPDATE: SEM VERSION 2.1
    This update doesn't add much, the only thing changed is the title screen.
    I don't think I'll keep giving updates, but if there are any opinions and things you want me to change, I'll try to do what I can.
    For the rest I think I will dedicate myself to mini projects and maybe a full game.
    The updates and credits can be found in the first post.

    Hello guys!
    I returned to release Sonic Invincible Monitor, my April Fool hack:D
    This version of the game replaces all eggman monitors with invincibility monitors.
    These days I want to be a little active in this forum because I missed it.

    Hello. Can you share the code that makes Eggman's monitor deal damage like Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

    Hi!
    The code to make Eggman's monitor functional is on Sonic Retro, follow all the instructions written on "SVN and HG Disassemblies" and you should not have problems.
    Now the problem is that I forgot after all these years to give credit to the people who made the guide, so to solve it I will put the link on the first page.
    I hope they forgive me for my forgetfulness...
