I already commented on this on youtube but I just have to on here as well. Seriously mate I think this looks so good and so appealing to play. I love your colour choices, both with the level and with Sonic himself. It just looks and feels really fresh, like a brand new Sonic game. Once again I really can't wait to actually play this. Awesome!

You also could put in a carnival tent and maybe a neat roller-coaster style track in the background.

I wasn't expecting you to do a review based on this video. I was hoping you would do that when the actual rom got a release but oh well. Also I'm aware of everything you've said here, time is my issue and I was being generous even though it really wasn't ready to be displayed to the public yet =P. Regardless I will starting replying.

Thank you for the Segascreen comment, the title, well not really as the whole big Sonic CD emblem failed I had to recreate it. What would you suggest?

I am aware again of this, I'll be honest, with the title appearing I must have screwed something up, I still haven't worked out what I've done with it. The vertical... yeah I know, I'm working on a plan to get it in.

I... yes I know, I'll be honest I haven't figured out how to fix this problem.

Thank you for the enemies, I suprised myself. I understand, but I doubt the layout will be changed. What can I say, again I know about the chunks, these are just things I need to touch up on. Like I said, part of the reason nothings been released, its just not ready. All I can say is, your words bring me sorrow MarkeyJester.

Thats a REAL shame, because I liked that gimmick. I see what you mean though... oh well back to the drawing board.

Thank you very much, I took the idea on the timetravel and ran with it, there were a few ideas I had but they failed. I'm glad you like the look of the past, however, no.. you don't want to see more.... at least at this time... its got more problems than the present, but not as much as the future =P. The layout hasn't changed, i've just created some different chunks for the past.

Markey man, don't worry, I'll fix it dude. And yes its the present, you go to the future only in act 3. I'm glad you like the Sonic CD perspective, the falling problem is irritating me as well, it keeps reseting, again I'm still trying to figure out WHY. I think its the video that makes it look like the bg and the fg clash, they are both bright in the video, but in the actual hack the bg is a bit darker so they don't clash.

I understand, I thank you for taking the time to review this(Though I kinda didn't want it at this time, sorry). My biggest problem here is that I have so many bugs coming out of my backside it needs to be seen, to be beleived, I know i've got my work cut out for me.

Yeah, sorry for the full document, I did think that it was in some beta form, but hey, that's what this thread is for! I'll be sure to update my thoughts upon release.

No worries, ok now here is the second video.

    http://youtu.be/naQ1x9boryw

Showcases some music(Not final), how the timestone timetravel works, very simple(May try to include a flash), and a sneak peak of bad future hill.

This is excellent concept.. I never would've thought to base the time travel ability off of the confused pose. Nice job, keep up the good work.

Looks pretty fun. As a side note, the waterfall is flowing upwards in Past Hill Zone.

Good work Animemaster, but it seems there is still too much work to do. Everything seems to be in early beta state. The level layouts, well, MarkeyJester said almost everything about that, so I think the same. The level art is not very good in Green Hill, specially the grass, but it looks better in the past zone. About the Sega screen, I don't like it too much (and I don't think Sega likes you say this is produced by or under license from Sega lol)... The music... well, I see some Megamix themes here, I don't know what you think, but I'm bored of that songs.

I like the Sega CD bg screen with the disc playing in the level select menu, good job with that.

P.S.: Why you only credit Selbi if there is some other people that helped you in your hack?

This is looking good. The MegaMix version of this was more advanced but it seems you are going well with that. Let's see if this come to something good.

I think you mean Sonic Cd. Sonic Megamix has the same old 2D rotating special stage. What you see (above) is better than megamix's special stage.

And while I am here I thought I would post an update of Dr.Robotnik's Challenge

As you can see here I am testing out scrolling and to add this to the boss will only require a few slight changes due to the way I have the program structured. Also I fully added sonic's physics based on the sonic retro physic's guide it plays just like the real game in my opinion.

I'd have to disagree. Splash Hill's grass is absolutely atrocious. Looks like some kind of oily glue covered astroturf.

I in no way claimed this wasn't in its beta stage, I said I was being "generous", I didn't say it was ready to be released, I only showed 1 act in a video and some features in another, so I don't see the problem here.

    1) I can only say what I've said in the past to people(I made a funny!), I am sorry, but the present will not be changed.

    2) What? Megamix would like a word with you? you do know they have the proper sonic CD screen in there hack so again, I don't see this being valid.

Ok right, sunny hill has been used in Megamix yes, I'm not aware of it however being used and abused like say Sonic3K songs. And no, Tidal Tempest does not count, why? I do remember my hack being called Sonic 1: Sonic CD Edition, I think thats enough said?. Despite what you've said, I thank you for being the only one who mentioned the CD spining in the BG, and I don't know if you read it but I did say the music was NOT final.

The only reason I credited Selbi is because with out him, I wouldn't of even recorded the footage. The only other credits are for a few guides and tools, which will be credited when I release the rom, eveything else I did myself. Thanks for the feedback non the less, and please don't take it as me having ago, I just had to get my thoughts across here.

I'm going to be honest, Animemaster, this looks like a mess. Your level layout in areas just seems bland, with questionable palette choices and terrible grass in the present/future. I'll admit, there's cool things on the side, but it visually doesn't look pleasing at all.

And the comment that you're not going to change it either shows you're being stubborn - I'm not the only one who thinks this, from a discussion I've had in a Skype call a while ago.

Fair enough, I respect the fact its got alot of work that needs doing which I'm aware of. Daleksam I've come to the conclusion, I can't please everyone, no matter how hard you try, someone will get at you with something they don't like. This hack is way over due, I'll be honest, I wanted this done ages ago so I'm at the point where if its clean and presentable(it obviously isn't clean but, the art I don't mind), I'm happy with it. At the end of the day I'm only doing the best I can, I can't say it enough really.

Unless someone can draw better grass for me, then thats the result, i'm sorry guys but whether you think i'm stubborn or some other reason, this is a no go. FYI your not going to like this but, your not being forced to play this hack. It is also time consuming doing new grass and art in general, I don't have the time right now anyways to do a load of concept art until I satify, I dunno, 70% of the community and then implement it. Again, its your decision guys, but I've told you the situation, if your disappointed in anyway then I apologise, but to be fair, I like the art, and I've put alot of effort in to this hack, I'm sure you can appreciate that.

If something is bothering you regarding my hack, you can have a personal chat with me anytime on SKYPE. Of course it doesn't mean something will be changed etc, but if more people talk to me about these things it helps me and helps the community. Especially if others think so, please tell me, don't just talk about it to others and pass on the message =).

I thought your art was amazing I don't understand what everyone's problem is. I can not draw that well. I have no original drawing art skills I am a good photographer but when I try adobe illustrator or inkscape the 4 letter words start flowing freely so don't complain unless you know that you are able to do better.

I'll second that. The art looks brilliant and you can clearly see that a lot of work has been put in. I think that there's a bit of unfair negativity being aimed towards this hack. That's just my opinion though. Were I in the same shoes as Animemaster, I wouldn't want to change it either. I don't think it's being stubborn. It's just taking pride in your work and being confident enough in it to stick to your guns.

@Animemaster I don't want to sound like a kiss-arse here but because I was so impressed with what I saw In your video I felt compelled to back it up. Good luck with it!

Megamix would like to have 35 words with you, highlighted and circled for your convenience

The Sega license screen is displayed by the BIOS before any custom code is run, the same as the "TMSS" added to the Genesis to display a similar message on startup. These were an attempt by Sega to prevent companies from releasing games that weren't explicitly authorized by Sega by causing them to use sega-proprietary startup code and write the trademarked word "SEGA" to a specific place in RAM to cause the system to boot, which would then display a message claiming that Sega had produced or licensed the software. Given that the company producing unlicensed software would not be legally licensed to use the "SEGA" trademark, and that the displayed message would be an outright lie and thus the author could be accused of deception, Sega believed that this would be a way for them to legally prevent anyone from developing Genesis/SegaCD/etc games without their explicit permission. A court case over this exact thing led to a ruling that basically stated that if computer hardware exists, anyone should be able to develop for it, and thus the unlicensed company was allowed to use the "SEGA" trademark in this way and cause this license screen to be displayed because it's the only way that software can be run on the system

There is a clear difference between causing the unavoidable TMSS and SegaCD/MegaCD bootup license screens to appear, and purposefully adding a new and unnecessary screen that claims that a game was produced or licensed by Sega. It has nothing to do with any level of "authenticity" or the like- if it were entirely up to me, I would not display such a screen, because Megamix was neither produced nor licensed by Sega, and it is not at all my intention to convince anyone otherwise. This is clearly stated on a screen that displays immediately upon my own program recieving control of the system
