That actually looks impressive. Shame it's still 256 x 256 which takes the whole screen up! But otherwise, neat idea.

A in game sonic level creator? pretty neat idea utilizing the debug mode like that though it would be even more interesting if the levels created in-game can be saved and edited at anytime.

If this is intended as a level editor, I really hope it goes deeper than just an expanded debug mode. Saving, a more natural way of choosing from the $70-odd chunks available, all that.

I was going to transition the project to 128 x 128 chunks for that exact reason, but... The layouts are saved in SRAM, and because they cannot be directly read like they would be if they were right in the ROM, they had to be un-odded in RAM and read from there. The problem is that there isn't enough space to completely do so with 128 x 128 chunks, and it would take some tricky tricks to be able to make it look as if the whole layout was there. Basically, it was either A.) Make it super confusing, or B.) Stick with 256 x 256 chunks. I went the latter route. :V

Yes, saving has already been integrated, and I do plan on making it easier to choose from chunks. There's also a bunch more features that I have planned, but I'll keep those under wraps for now.

Idea noted. Also, nice video there! That level gives me some really strong Sonic CD vibes, which I really like.

@MarkeyJester: Gust Planet is amazing! The bicycle is genius (though I was expecting Bicycle to be playing in the background while riding it), the platform that spins around is also genius and I did see that ad for your "DAC Crystal" driver!! Great job overall! (Though that is kinda expected from you)

@EgorTF: Time travel. Something rarely done in hacks. Nice job! I like that art too! I'm really looking forward to it! Plus, is that boss new?

@Natsumi: Literally CANNOT wait for SonicMT.bin! I love new bosses!

Great job overall everyone! Cannot wait for all of this!

You are kidding right?. Anyways I'm liking the videos coming out for the contest and although time travel I think personally is becoming common now(Says the guy who's hack is basically time travel), I like what you have here so far EgorTF. I just hope the way time travel is performed will be unique.

Well, there are only 2 other hacks that I can name that have time travel off the top of my head (Yours and Sonic 1: South Island Warped).

Well, I will rather call it Green Hill Zone and Marble Zone, but I like these palettes. And make sky darker in MZ - I think it would more fit. ;)

Oofa, those greens do not go together at all. I'd go for a more seafoam color or lighter shade of the green you've got on the main column instead of that yellow-green.

The red you chose for the columns makes them look like they've been freshly painted, which isn't nessicarily a bad thing, but it throws off the rustic feel Marble originally had. The shade of it combined with the background makes me feel like I'm looking at blood though. I'd recommend re-coloring that background to a light purple, or a complementary color for red.

That takes me back. I still have the source code lying around for that somewhere, and about 50 different builds. One day I might actually revisit it and see if I can actually make a decent effort at finishing it.
