    Which one shall I use? Also, if you haven't seen my updates on the SSRG discord, then I am remaking Sonic 1 Back to South Island for SHC.

    I would go with the first. The foreground is less saturated and provides more variety color-wise. Not to mention I prefer the extra detail in the stars, and the transition shade in the sky blends much more nicely.

    Echoing what Akuma said about the first one. The coloring of the sky shading looks better to me and it doesn't clash with the mountains like the second one.

    He seems to be using the Death Egg Zone tiles, which is... interesting. I honestly don't think I've ever seen anyone do that.
