So I decided to check out the shc 2014 version of this hack, and thought I should give you some feedback.

To start, there's a very abusable and easy to pull off glitch you can do right at the start. If you select continue before save data is generated, you start with null data, in GHZ with 0 lives. Dying rolls the counter to infinitesimally high levels, granting infinte lives.

Bridge zone is great, but act 3 has several blind jumps and a couple dick moves. Also, that deathpit before the flagpole is pure evil, and sticks out in an otherwise pleasant zone.

I like the day to night transiton palettes, but you should make it possible for the player to change the palette once they beat the level. I'm tired of eternal night :(

SBZ 3 is a complete throw away level. Since I'm aware of the issues with editing final zone, I reccommend trashing this waste of space.

Cheese caves' art is great, dont get me wrong, but it feels really out of place. Your updating old zones and adding ones from other games. But just giving labyrinth an art change? Your better of leaving the original level intact (maybe save it for another zone?)

You only edited the first special stage D:

The store needs more stuff. Not just moves, but other things, too. I'd reccomend adding new characters and maybe some snazzy visual and audio upgrades (it would be nice to buy new music and play in any zone, generations style, but that might be a bit much)

Green hill zone is deadly! Why make it so clearly the first zone if BZ is easier?

You can get lost in some of the hub zones, particularly SYZ and GHZ.

I really like this hack, its just a lot of the nitpicks above get in the way for me. I can't wait for new updates :3

    Ok, it's time to reply.

Probably because is my custom act, act 1 & 2 are based on these from GG/MS.

The only idea I have is to change act & daytimes to 0 - day, 1 - sunset, 2 - night, 3 - morning, so you will not be forced to play at night rest of game.

I have plans for act 3. Also, without it the 3 act day - night transition wouldn't work correctly.
    What's wrong with art-only changing?

In both post here and SHC entry I wrote about this.

    As above.

Zones can be played in any order. You can play GHZ even at the end, just before final fight.

I'm planning add arrows (like these from Marble Garden) leading to acts.

    Thanks.

A lot of the walls in Green Garden Zone are pretty much invisible (as in they look exactly like the background).

The tubes don't work right. Maybe it's meant to be that way, but I find it a bit annoying.

Ah, and putting monitors in trees where they're completely invisible is bad, hopefully that's changed whenever you get new tree art.

My only real problem with this, is that it's pretty much Sonic 1 Extended Edition, right down to the signs. Other than that though, it looks clean, solid and well... pretty much works!

Sorry, I don't have other idea to show passed acts (yes, there was a person who wanted me make something to show which act you passed) and also don't have another idea than arrows to show where you should go to find a monitor. If you have better - say. And no, I never played Sonic 1 Extended Edition, I will check it soon.

Well okay, naturally that's freaking retarded. However, I see no excuse to not do it on a two-word title like "Painto edition". But please don't let this become a debate, because I was generally just letting my OCD get the best of me.

As Filio says, it is confusing to see where the walls are,  considering they are the exact same as the background. Maybe make the shading stronger on the solid sides?

Also, the background looks kind of bland. Sorry. :<

Is this really important if it's edition or Edition? That's the main point of my or any other hack? The name? I think that no.

As for solid walls, I will try to make something soon, but later because in Monday in Poland starts school what means that I will have less time to hacking and now I'm working on my character select menu and second character itself, but more details I will say when it's time.

No, it's not. It's just a silly little mistake that I suggest you to fix by simply changing the title. I didn't expect to debate this.

TheInvisibleSun Implemented the act complete flags in Sonic 1 Color Contrast.

I suggest you to create a special object to warp to acts, rather than just monitors.

Still better, and more original, than using S3K's special stage ring object :U

I'm not using Special Stage rings, because almost every hack with hubs uses these. The only reason for what I use rings in TMZ is that they are esier to manage in this case.

I came with idea of using emblems above act monitors/special rings, so everyone will be happy - both these who want any act checker and these who want original content.

    But meanwhile in S1:pE2 (3.0)...

I've used this background for my level select, but I'm not using it anymore since I've got Sonic 2 level select :p

Also I loved your GGZ artwork, it was a good remake of Green Hills zone on 8-bit sonic 2...

But the tubes need some work though, Also, there is my advice for the "invisible" walls:

At least it makes the difference, I think.

    edit: some art fix

Might I once more bring up how GHZ handled this?

The 'squares' of the art were slightly squashed and the shading was altered, very much like Cryptonymous' recommendation only with lighter shading on the left-facing walls.

Sadly, this isn't an update post, but more informative about hack's progress. This (and next) year is very busy for me. School, exams, etc. This means less time for hacking, but I'm NOT CANCELLING SONIC 1: PAINTO EDITION 2. It just means more slow progress, but the progress IS there.

I'm working on unlockable Eggman now, but I also plan to create 6 totally new zones (Green Garden is one of them), which are listed below. Also I'm planning to add more skills, edit totally the Special Stages (maybe their art too), I will also try to make ports of other songs to my hack, but for this I need time. This means that a bigger update/release will be NOT EARLIER THAN FEBRUARY 2015 (but there is very small chance of being earlier). With this said, you can now only await to any posts from my side. I hope you all understand this.

    ----

Here is the mentioned Zone's list and other things I'm planning. I will update this post's list when I will do a major progress in these.

    ----

    Zones:

    Green Garden Zone: 100%

    Bridge Zone: 100%

Under Ground Zone: 0% (actually is just 2.0's Marble)

Casino Madness Zone: 0% (actually is just 2.0's Spring Yard)

    Cheese Cave Zone: 60% (in progress/needed: acts 2 & 3)

City Escape Zone: 0% (actually is just 2.0's Star Light)

Egg Base Zone: 0% (actually is just 2.0's Scrap Brain)

The Main Zone: 100% (at the moment all I want is done)

    ----

    Other things:

Skill Shop: 80% (in progress/needed: more skills)

Special Stages: 10% (in progress/needed: art, stages from 2 to 6)

    ----

I'm not locking the topic to allow you discussion about my hack.

Okay, time for some information (and doublepost ._.)

First, after first week of school, I noticed that this year isn't going to be that busy as I thinked - this means a bit more hacking time.

Second, after redoing Bridge Zone and finishing Green Garden & Cheese Cave, I'm planning to release next version of my hack. I'm not saying any concrete dates, because I don't know how fast I will work.

Third. I will just quote my post from SGD:

Now that's all. Feel free to comment and give more opinions about my hack.
