    Aspect Edit Plus is an editor for the resources of the Master System and Game Gear versions of Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos and Sonic Triple Trouble.

    It is a continuation of the original Aspect Edit, created in 2009 by Glitch.
    See original thread here; see original source code here.

    While I haven't written up a proper guide, see info on how to use this editor here. Bear in mind the last post by Ravenfreak, as it details how to properly open levels.

    Version 0.5 changelog from the original v0.4:
    • Added: support for saving and loading uncompressed layouts;
    • Added: zoom functionality for all panes of the mapping and level editor to fit better with modern larger screens;
    • Added: "Draw grid" checkbox in the tile editor affects the palette selector, the tile editor and the arranger;
    • Added: "Show grid lines" checkbox in the level editor affects the mapping palette;
    • Fixed: bug with loading some levels that led to a large chunk being blanked out;
    • Fixed: bug with the palette editor panel;
    • Fixed: bug with the Open button in the palette editor not working;
    • Fixed: "Remove" button can now be repeatedly pressed to remove a tile;
    • Fixed: level editor repainting when reopening mappings;
    • Fixed: tile offset resetting when reopening mappings;
    • Refined: palette editor UI;
    • Refined: mapping editor UI;
    • Refined: tile editor UI;
    • Removed: confirmation dialog when attempting to remove tiles and mappings;
    • Changed: "About" dialog
    Things planned for the future:
    • Project file support
    • Tilemap editor
    • Object position editor
    Requires Java to run, just like the old version.

    Asking because I’m curious, are the sprites shown in the screenshots for a particular ROM Hack, or are they just for show? I’d love to play a ROM Hack with sprites of this level of quality, especially for Master System standards.
