I'm just wondering, wouldn't there be some music or sound effects at least instad of dead silence?

It's most likely a fake, but I like the sprite that Sonic uses when standing. If someone would make that sprite for me I would love them.

It's probably a fake, but the palmtrees in the first plane loooks awesome. Even the mountains of the background looks better than the ones of the final version.

Yeah, that sprite looks very good, but am I the only I'm seeing this pose looking as the one of Super Mario Bros? looool

I'm pretty sure it's technically feasible on the MD. Actually I wouldn't be totally surprised if it wasn't a complete fake.

The main reason is since the very first day I started hacking green hill, I noticed the palm trees are actually sorted like they were used as sprites, while everything else is sorted in a different order.

With the right priority, you can put sprites in the background and foreground, move them faster or slower than the screen, and if that's running on a megadrive, it's definitely done this way.

I'm calling it to be a load of horse shit. Only way to prove otherwise is for the ROM dump to be made public.

It is by far possible to do on the md if anyone was wounder how there were 2 bg layers there isn't it is because the background (the blue city part) was just one solid color and the tiles are just moved at a different speed

Lol, someone on Retro actually pointed that out. I'd call it a coincidence. as for the "prototype" itself, I'm calling BS until someone (likely Naka) from Sonic Team confirms it, or, like Ordos and many others said, a rom dump is made public.

Still horse shit until the prick can provide actual physical proof of the actual cart, and send it to someone in the community with the hardware to dump it.

No cart = no dump = complete and utter horseshit.

    Enough said.

What if the person does not have a cart dumper but then again if they could get a sonic 1 beta cart there is a good chance they have probly worked with betas before and would more than likly have some way to dump the cart also why can't the person at least post a video of the sega genesis cart.

the issue is that the owner of said "early" prototype, isn't releasing it, or at least showing some other kind of proof. I'm on the boat on this one. I personally think it is a fake, but at the same time, it could have some legitamacy, I mean, it looks like he is playing it on a TV, don't know, but still. It'll be all revealed by tomorrow the latest. But the timing of said video's release is just WAY to coincidencial for it to be real. We'll see...

btw, shouldn't this be in the Members' lounge?

Even if this is indeed just a hoax it is a damn good one. Just saying.

True. It's a pretty good effort for something that's got a high probability of being a hoax

I was on the Retro forums, and I happened to notice that the guy who posted these videos just recently joined Retro.

Once the tech members get their hands on him, he's screwed. =P

The thing is, he's shown 2 videos of "practically" the same thing now, but not once has he just pointed the camera down to show the MegaDrive with the BETA ROM inside. Just doing that, even for a second, would give us all a second thought and think, "wait a second, maybe he's not bull-shitting here". But until then, I'm not buying this story.
