Pinning this topic until the results are announced in October. That way people will get to see it and it won't get lost in the other topics. I never realised how hard it'd be to draw fudge in a Sonic game XD

Unfortunately I'm not going to have time to finish my entry due to unforseen health problems, so as a result I won't be able to enter this contest. It's a shame really coz I was looking forward to submitting my entry, but it'll have to wait until sometime in the future before I finish it and release it to the public.

You should post a picture at the deadline date, to show how far you got, just for entertaining purposes. The last one you showed me was looking good =P

You have 21 hours and 30 minutes left to go (from the time stamp of this post).

Right then ladies and gentlemen, I am disappointed in the lack of entries, though I am aware that there are reasons why a few of you could not submit.

The winner of this contest is "Jan Abaza" who was the only one who had actually submitted, it's not what I imaged as Fudge Hill Zone and I wouldn't consider it to play like a professional zone, but considering he/she had only started working on it on the 2nd of October, for what's in there I am pretty damn impressed, this is about a weeks worth of work:

I was actually expecting to see worse, but this is pretty nice to see, I was also suprised that there was new scrolling applied to that background, and I do like the look of those cake blocks, the zig-zaggy pattern under it is so 90's =P, I heard new music too but being honest here, it was a put off so I had to mute the emulator. If this guy had started working on it when the contest was started three months ago, then who knows how brilliant it would have turned out.

I don't think I'll be doing another contest, you've let me down SSRG, I mean... come on, three months? You had plenty of time! And this guy's work above is proof of that.

I considered making something, with chocolate waterfalls, tootsie roll clouds, and hershey bar floors (with white chocolate frosting to walk on). It could have been fun to work on something so silly, I just don't have the time to put into this kind of thing.

Plus the rule requirement that it must have original coding/music, which I cannot do, didn't help.

Edit: That above, while doesn't really say "fudge" to me, looks really good considering the short amount of time put into it. I am impressed.

I don't have the time to work on anything nowadays. I've mostly been concentrating on 6th form's work, so I haven't had much time to work to myself, and I felt that what I had in the end wasn't worth submittting. Apologies.

I think it's was lack of promotion for the contest. You know, I've completly forgotten that this contest existed until you bumped the thread.

    And aww, no download? =P

I don't think it was lack of promotion and for multiple reasons:

    1. I bumped the thread four different times through the months.
    2. There was interest about, as you can tell from the posts made when I started the contest, but lack of submissioning due to their own personal life mishaps such as; illnesses, work, school, etc (which isn't my business and well, isn't my fault).
    3. The only person who submitted isn't actually a full member of this site, he/she made an account here on the 5th of October this year and has no posts, meaning that this person got wind of the competition externally rather than internally within the community, normally lack of promotion would result in the opposite.
    4. This thread is pinned.
    5. I typed up reminders on IRC.

There's not a lot else I could've done without seeming arrogant about it, I'm not gonna make YouTube videos advertising it...

I have to say for this person to be the only one to have submitted something, he/she did a Pretty damn good With the art as i see. Would have been nice if this Person added a chocolate waterfall or something IMO. any chance that we will be able to Play this or is this Only for the staff to play?

I'm handling the contest, this has nothing to do with the other staff, as for a ROM to play, that's not up to me, that's up to the person who made it.

I'll still release my entry sometime in the near future, which funnily enough is pretty much along the lines of what Rika described. I just couldn't meet the deadline due to illness and multiple hospital visits.

I would of submitted if I could draw. If I did go through with a submission, mine would of been shit, so I thought that there was no point =P

Um, hi. My name is Jan and I am an ancient member of Sonic Research community. Most of you don't know me, because I never post anywhere anymore. I sure love drawing Sonic levels though. I'm a guy by the way, apparently Jan is a female name in English, and ... I don't care.

    That about sums it up.

Ehh I don't know, the music is all sorts of horrible, week or no it's no excuse, you don't want that kind of garbage on your server. Unless someone's got a musical idea and is willing to pack it up with the project source, it's better off not happening.

Also act 2 was rushed, and it shows pretty badly.
