Wasn't there an attempt at recreating the S2 Genesis levels in S2 SMS? And AGES before that, someone tried to recreate the S2 SMS levels in S2 Genesis.

It's not dead for sure! I've had a lot going on sadly, but when I move, I'll have MUCH more time! Notice that some unused Sonic 2 Badniks replace their Sonic 1 equivalents in the game, like Motosnail instead of New Motobug, that unused Lobster Badnik Tom Payne drew, instead of that Lobster Badnik that barely looks like a Badnik, and Sonic 1 Beta's Ball Hog replacing the weirdly coloured and shaded one from the vanilla game.

    To do:
    1. Use the disassembly mrcat-pixel made for me that puts Aqua Lake and Crystal Lake in different folders.
    2. Touch-up Sky-High Zone.
    3. Touch-up all of Aqua Lake's graphics.
    4. Fix a few graphical issues in Green Hills Zone.
    5. Finish Scrambled Egg Zone Act 2.
    6. Redraw Crystal Egg Zone (and use unused graphics).
    7. Redraw all bosses! (Robotnik in UGZ and Silver Sonic done).

Hope y'all enjoy Sonic 2 DX when it's done!

I don't remember giving you disassembly. And for sure, I don't remember even touching S2 GG/MS source code.
Don't ya confused me with another "cat" in hacking community?)

Oh! I have you confused with mrcat-pixel. My apologies. I thought you two were one and the same. I edited the post. No worries!

Release date? Honestly I don't know, hopefully sometime before original demo turns 1 year old.

This is an amazing job that ValleyBell did it, he ported games that using SMPS 68K - Z80 driver.
You can appreciate here the music game "Alien Storm", working very nice, also you can download his SMPS Research Pack, and listen into SMPSPlay v2.2, and port the music, but you must fix manually the DAC mappings and PSG.

And this is an example how I make a song from Sega Genesis, my technique to port music via MID2SMPS.
I have a long time around the music environment, and I decided to show a mini video showing how I assign the instruments and more in MID2SMPS.
Ristar have a great OST, some songs needs to be fix manually the DAC mappings and PSG.
Is impressive how I handle this, this is another year with more music works, and a lot of things is coming.
    Greetings folks!!!.

Inspired by Sonic Hysteria, I decided to replace the water domes in Act 2 of Aqua Lake with lamps. Freed up three tiles too luckily. Also the water slide works, but is easily skippable. Today has mainly been fixing up Green Hills, porting everything to Mr. Cat's special disassembly, and thinking of new ways to further differentiate Aqua Lake Act 2 from Act 1. Aqua Lake, like Sky High, is at best a touch-up versus a radical change like Underground, Green Hills, Scrambled Egg, and to a lesser extent, Gimmick Mountain, have been.

EDIT: Added vines and rock formations from the early Game Gear Sonic Chaos prototype. Those proto graphics were nice, and deserved to be used somewhere!

Another South Island Adventure will not go to waste as I'm planning to do something special to it alongside merging my work with another ROM hack I made for quite some time.

Bear in mind that the level was tweaked after making this video so this isn't final.

Do you hate the sound effects heard in stock Sonic games? Listen to this.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, after several months Darkex has decided to release the first demo of Sonic Megadriven, the hack can be played, the other areas are still in process, so be patient, new sprites for Sonic have been implemented, there will be new abilities of bosses and, relatively unbelievable music and more.
The levels will be a little longer maybe, we are still evaluating that. For my part, I've collaborated with the OST, and more composers will be added maybe, so enjoy this video, we are open to suggestions and comments.
I still have to continue with other projects in part, so I will be very busy at this time, greetings.

Here is a preview of Fractal Sound - a software suite for all kinds of Mega Drive projects! I've worked on this sound engine for months, to create the best and most flexible sound driver I could for Mega Drive developers, with the aim to support trackers, modern musicians, and to be easily integrated into video games. I'm getting closer to reaching that goal, and so wanted to show everyone just what I've been cooking. However, I also need help with further development and testing, as all things are, this is becoming really time consuming. More info and a ROM preview will be posted in the Hardline Team discord server.

I'm going to reiterate my comments from discord on the forums here so that they are in one place and can be easily referenced.
I wasn't too sure it was a flame in that bubble at first. It wasn't until you picked it up that it made sense. I think that bubble could benefit from some light reflection in the top left. Also, the blue used for the outline also blends in with the background a bit, which could be a problem on CRT displays or anything that displays a less than crisp image.
This big ring looks a little too dark, especially when compared to a standard ring. But it is rather impressive that it loads like that.
