Incase anyone is still paying attention to this, I am thinking of scraping my hack and mobey move on to something else. I wanted to make a sonic cd hack but as far as I know there is no full dissembly of the game. I also just was not proud of this hack. I found it hard to find just the right terrain to fit together and that's why I wanted to hack sonic cd because you can really just do whatever the heck you want with the level design and it would not really be in issue. One more thing, dose anyone know how to hex edit? because If I want to actualy hack sonic cd this is my only option and I really would like to know how. that is all and I thank you all for bing with me on this project! :D

I wouldn't try to hack Sonic CD if you are struggling with Sonic 1.  Maybe try a different Sonic game for the MD?  Sonic 2 (IMO) is the easiest to edit the level layout as its 128 chunks rather than 256's.

Play around with different Sonic games, use different disassemblies, try both SonED2 and SonLVL, find your comfort level.  And most important of all, don't rush it.  It's not a race.  People rather you release your hack late than early with bugs.

    1. Uhh...what are you on about? Sonic CD still uses the same conventions as Sonic 1. Hell, it is basically Sonic 1 ghetto-rigged to work on the SEGA CD. Hacking it won't give you free reign to do whatever. It still uses the exact same 256x256 chunk system as S1. The only difference is that you have more chunks to play with since your RAM isn't all eaten up.

    2. Hex editing is old fashioned and really not advisable with MMD's. If you mess up anything, you'll have a broken mess. Also, if you want to edit a level's art, remember, you have to somehow inject it into the MMD twice. Once for Act 1, and then for Act 2. And that is just assuming you are just messing with only Present Acts. If you want to mess with all the time zones, you're gonna have to do that 3 more times for Acts 1 and 2. Act 3 is good or bad futures, so only once.

All in all, don't think super big if you can't get down the basics. Sonic CD is a real hassle that even people who have messed with more advanced shit don't want to touch. Maybe one day in the future, you'll be the one to unlock SCD for us, but today? No.
