I'd like to keep the rep system, but when giving rep, you must add a comment about why you're doing it. It's like the old system, but with mandatory commenting.

I don't like this system cause it can be abused however the rules are. It's better if we had a Like button that is not showing total by account

And you're saying a like system can't be abused? I recall one criticism of the current rep system being that big-name users get rep just for saying something. A like system would only solve one problem. Just wait, people will become jealous of other's popularity, and want that system scrapping too.

As someone who's only had one scrape with the double-standards of *some* rep-givers, I'd say scrap the system entirely. Retro's a fairly honest place because of it. For better or for worse. Really, if I wanted a vote on something, I'd start a poll. You got something to say, say it.

I think someone (iirc, MJ) said to rid of the "total number of reps/likes" on member's profile pages.  So it wouldn't matter how many likes a post got, it can't be made into a popularity contest.

Did some digging, looks like there's a plugin to remove likes from XenForo. The forums can go back to a way where content provides merit rather than frivolous votes that can easily be skewed. Reputation will probably be going away, people. Back to the old ways of earning respect before the whole rep system was put in place.

Yeah, I meant the individual posts, not the total. Take the screenshot thread, for example. Two people can post on the same page, and one gets a much higher number of likes, with at least some being influenced by the poster being a certain person. That can rub someone the wrong way.
