I think the XP incompatibility is caused by the compiler: Visual Studio needs to be configured to use a special toolchain to make EXEs that support XP, and MinGW-w64 needs to be built a certain way. MSYS2's MinGW isn't built to support XP, but Arch Linux's is. Since I use Arch Linux, I should be able to make EXEs that work for you:

Clownacy, if you'll ever be in Italy, I'll make sure to offer you a beer.

This is a pretty neat project, having the chance to play the remakes under your PC. I did manage to get Sonic 1 working under Windows 2000 (with a few modifications and kernel patches and updates).

I can't wait to see Sonic 1 and 2 get ported to a multitude of consoles rather than making you use different Android emulators. May I ask, is there a possibility to make mods (such as gameplay enhancements, music and/or art changes) alongside plans for a mod loader?

we do plan to add support for a built-in mod loader in a future update, though fixing bugs takes priority over that right now

Thanks for that, there's no way I could make a mod loader for it. Of course, I'd be happy to help if there's anything you need when the time comes.

We've released the final update to the decompilations, which includes many QOL features + a mod loader so that others can make outstanding projects of their own!
we could've spent far longer creating the definitive project with zero bugs and every feature, but we chose to keep it fairly basic so that others can do so, and so we can move on to other projects we'd like to work on

A bit late, but I believe one final round of applause is in order for Rubberduckycooly and RMGRich + the other contributors to this project. It's great to finally have these native on PC, and I'm honored to have been able to help out the project myself with some logos I made based on Taxman's Retro Engine logo from his old website:

P.S. Clownacy, any chance you could make more of those x86 Windows XP SDK versions for the new 1.1.2 versions? I've been messing around with the ones you posted above on my father's original Windows XP machine and they've been working really well, just lacking bugfixes and features the newer final version has :)
