Well, I think I really should give an explanation on what happned back in July. So, here goes -

The SGMC went down due to me being shafted by the previous host. The reason - not replying to an e-mail regarding the site, this can be difficult to do, especially when you didn't recieve any such mail in the first place. So, the host killed the site. I later found out through my own digging around that he had sold up his hosting business, something he claimed to have informed all his clients about, that was bullshit. The new owner was informed that a section of the client list and their site data weren't to be transfered over, I was included in this list. I had to find that out by digging around, and mailing the new owner.

Anyway, on 1st June 2007 I made a back-up of the SGMC - SQL databases, main site and forum files - I did this at the start of every calender month, but seeing as I didn't have a fully functional CD burner, mine decided on its own accord that it was no longer a burner, I couldn't burn the back-up to CD-RW. It remained on my HDD, but as fate would have it, my HDD died on its arse not long after the SGMC went offline permanently. The file allocation table of the drive was either corrupt or missing/deleted. So, all is not lost on the HDD front, I can still recover my shit, hopefully anyway, but I don't have the cash at the moment to send it to a data recovery specialist. Although, Tweaker has suggested I give Partition Magic a whirl and see if I can re-cover my data without having to send it off. I'll give it a try once I lay my hands on a copy.

So there you have it, the story behind the fall of the SGMC.

Now, here's a brief in-sight of what to expect from the new SGMC -

    • Fresh re-boot - site and forums
    • Site submissions - mods for the database, guides, or tools
    • Mini site hosting for Sonic mod projects
    • IRC server (still on the cards, so may be dropped)
