Try playing it on a PC emulator, that might help.

If the screen turns red each and every time, that generally means the checksum failed, in turn, that means the ROM has either been incorrectly read by, or is corrupted by the emulator you've chosen. The original ROM works on hardware, and works on most of the popular emulators. So this bug is an issue with your emulator, not the ROM itself. Hence, I cannot be held account for the problems that occur with the emulator damaging the ROM.

Find another emulator and re-download a fresh copy of the ROM.

I had fun trying out all the Ring Ride hacks, so I decided to set myself another challenge; I set up a cheat in Kega Fusion to set the rings at all times to 999. The results were full of eyerape, but it certainly added a new aspect of gameplay. Try the final zone in RR1,2 and 3 with this cheat active. >:3

You can get much higher than 999. Have you tried 65535 or possibly 32767?

I played around with the cheat, and yes, even more insanity. :D The effects appear to slow down, but then get more intense again, lol.
