Taking inspiration from the prototypes for the past levels is META as hell and I love it. Another thing I'm a fan of is the Sonic 3D Blast soundtrack. I know the past versions retaining the "JP" tracks is a reference to SCD's soundtrack having the same quirk, but I would love to make some "past" remixes of S3DB music for you if you'd like.
I get the hesitancy behind starting a thread on your hack without a release, but in this case, with how much content you've provided in previewing, it's more than warranted. You can hit up any of the staff as always if there's any question of whether a thread is warranted. As for the project itself, well done as usual. Hopefully if things start freeing up with life, I can finally chuck you some Mode 1 stuff.
Ah! It's been quite some time! Things have been moving fast lately, and I'm trying to build up more confidence with sharing my work again, so I figured it was about time to bring this old thread back x3 I've been making update videos again, here's my most recent one: I've also got a running playlist of all the update videos, teaser videos, and basic music edit showcases I've been making that you can view here! I'm currently aiming to release a finished, polished '1.0' build by the end of 2025! No telling if I'll actually make that goal, but it's been a great motivator, and I've finally found a good space (physically and mentally) to do some heavy coding again! It's only been about a week since posting that video, and I already have some very exciting changes in the works (at least from my perspective x3) I have recently released an 'April Fools' demo that, due to me being sick at the time (as I explain in the release video), I never actually managed to get anything silly into it, so its' just a completely honest Emerald Hill Zone demo, with the normal amount of explosions and googly eyes x3 I've already made a TON of bug fixes and improvements since this demo, but it's already out there, so I guess there's no harm in sharing it again.
This is a massive improvement compared to previous demos. Can't wait to play the finished build, although, with the time stones (if those are time stones), you might need some Super Sonic art for each character and character style, because the glowing yellow normal Sonic looks a little odd. Still, this is a great ROM hack and I'm excited to see what comes next!
I don't really know what else to say, except that I love how this hack is shaping up! Looking forward to 1.0!
This was actually an intentional design decision made early on; I personally liked Sonic 1 style super sonic like that, back in the day. It works just fine for the S2 and S3K styles, and all the other characters take the super knuckles/super tails approach to things. I'm very hesitant to add new character art, since rom space is a serious concern, and a LOT of it is taken by all the new character art. I could maybe fall back to Sonic 2 art in that case? Again, it was a stylisitic choice, but your not the first to find it odd looking... Sorry for the late reply, been going through some personal stuff lol
Big update this time! I swear the video editing gets more intimidating every time I post new changes x3
Just one thing, Im happy that one of my favorite ROM Hacks I played when i was young (Back in 2021) revived in 2025.
