Yeah, but this isn't licensed under anything, which means nothing is keeping people from jacking the code as they please. Even if it was licensed, though, you're going to have a hell of a time filing any sort of legal action against someone who tries to violate it based on reverse-engineered commercial code.

Its that developer's, or development team's, decision on how they wish to roll. Open Source isn't nearly as bad as you'd like to make it out to be Tweaker, and keeping your code closed source isn't a guaranteed way to keep your software yours as evidenced by the whole thing in China with regards to the software firewall that was supposed to be on every computer, it turns out the Chinese devs just ripped it off of a proprietary program made in the US.

Also, lets not forget that, at least from what I've seen, Linux gets patched faster than Windows does, mainly because theres thousands and possibly millions of eyes looking over the Linux source code looking for flaws and security threats, whereas with Microsoft Windows its possibly only a few hundred eyes, or they know about it, but because its closed source they can keep it below radar until a hacker finds it and exploits it. So from a security stand point OSS seems to be better than closed source.

As for having a hell of a time filing any sort of legal action, thats just the shitty US legal system.

This ironing is delicious. Very tasty.

It has come to my attention, from several sources I would consider reliable, that this "open source project" contains code lifted from Sonic Megamix, which as we all know, suffered from a leak in source code relatively recently - a great shame for those involved who worked so hard to create something good, only to have it thrown into their face. To open source your own work, is perfectly acceptable - regardless of anyones feelings on the pros and cons of open source, you may do as you wish with your own work. Masquerading someone elses work as your own, and then open sourcing that... Totally unacceptable.

If you feel you want to protest your innocence and think you have some means of providing hard evidence that what I have described has not occured, feel free to argue your case in the banned forum. However, having read your rhetoric about "re-inventing the wheel" in the opening paragraph and now learning this information - lets just say it definitely adds up.

Thanks for dealing with this problem iojnekns, I had no idea about this. Now is probably a good time to lock the thread.
