Sonic the Hedgehog Hacking Contest 2012

There's about two months left!! You should, like.. submit hacks and stuff =P Or start wrapping them up to a submittable form. We want to play your games and then quietly judge them amongst ourselves

 

I'll probably submit mine on the deadline. I'm risky like that =P

 

Just to let everyone know that we have a month to go until the Deadline of Saturday July 21st! The deadline for updates will be Saturday July 28th so if you enter something you feel to be incomplete, you have a week to get stuff sorted.


Just like last year, the Contest Week will run alongside SAGE which will take place during August 6th - 12th this year. The schedule for the Hacking Contest events will be released once it has been finalised with the SAGE staff, although the main events will be the public evaluation and results show at the end of the week.


So yeah, get stuff submitted, let's have a good contest this year!

 

omgomgomgomg I can't wait to play all the hacks ^^ There's some very innovative stuff I've seen that I can't wait to experience firsthand <3

 

You wouldn't be alone =P In past contests, as high as about 80% of submitted hacks were submitted on the day of the deadline!!

 

Mind if I ask if my hack was submitted? I'm unsure, because Hotmail has done weird stuff in the past like sending the stuff without the supposed reciever... recieving it.

 

I too was wondering the same for my hack as I too use Hotmail and at times, it acts weird and doesn't seem to send things correctly.

 

All submissions will receive a reply from the email address once it has been looked at.


Also, please do not use file upload sites that require a login such as 4shared, upload it as an attachment if need be.

 

I apologise about this, a silly mistake was made when making the deadlines. Because of that, the deadlines have been altered by a day as the threads were posted that the deadlines were on Saturdays.


The submissions deadline is now Saturday 21st July.


The updates deadline is now Saturday 28th July.

 

Question for you guys, not sure this has been asked before at all. If you send a hack, but keep the rom private from the public, and then you re-submit a newer version before the updates, can you change the status to public for the update?. The only reason I asked is because I will most likely get quite busy and have even less time to work on my hack that I want to submit. Fearing for not getting it in, I will send it to you guys private in its current condition but if I get enough time to make it more public friendly for the update then I may want to change the status to public.

You can change the visibility of your hack at any time. Full Private entries are discouraged though.

 

The partial private, is that when we provide pictures and/or videos? Or is it pictures/videos you judges take and share?

 

All entries must supply a ROM. Partial-private would only show the media you provide in your submission to the public.

 

Thank you for the submissions so far, there have been 16 entries in total as of right now, there is still time to submit yours and you have a week to finish off your submission.

Pacific time. Just get it in when you can as long as you get it in before the deadline.

 

Oh, I'd take it if you got it in right at 0:00 my time or within that particular minute. 12:01am on Saturday is unacceptable.

 

I didn't see Soti saying "Pacific" when I replied. And they're how many hours behind GMT (8 is it?) So got early Saturday morning, but I will send the e-mail tonight anyway.


Also, I have a question, when we submit these, then have the week to update them, will you be playing any of these before the updates arrive? Or will you be waiting 'til Saturday 28th?

 

We'll probably be taking a brief census of the entries and then first time playthroughs to get an idea for what the hack is. After the update window ends, that's when critical analysis and judging begins.

 

Okay, all I can say is is not to judge mine on it's first encounter. I have a list of bugs and etc still to fix and there is a palette issue with an act. This will all get updated within the week.
